Hello all,

Being completely new to IL:2 Sturmovik 1946, and having just purchased the game on Steam I embark upon my quest to get shot down online.

I try joining a game, but find out that I need to patch it.
I google about and find the 4.10 patch.

I tab back to the game lobby and notice another new player asking:

"Where can I find the IL2 patch?"
I have the link in my Firefox window, and paste it in the chat channel, and leave to make dinner.

Coming back 30 minutes later and cannot reconnect.
It turns out I have been banned by an illitterate and rude admin.

I had very much looked forward to playing this game, but I must say that I am quite discouraged now.

do you know what the admin is called? try paging him/her as to why he/she thought you did something wrong. keep trying to find out why you were banned

Hi,

Yes, the ban was for spamming and I know the name of the admin. I assume the ban is only temporary, but that is somewhat besides the point.

While I appreciate the need to punish users that misbehave, it really should be done in a professional manner and with caution.

I have no intention of getting into a flamewar with anyone, but I would just like to highlight the need for caution before banning users and the discomfort overzealous moderators cause. You are really only limiting the growth of your community if that is yet another obstacle for users to overcome.

You got only 1 h kick , dont blame admin- that link - it was automaticaly start download in PC, web site wasnt known well - anyway , its not case to write "rude" things here in forum .
We had few spammers before which did post links infected by trojan and other viruses , Admin did take action because - it did looks like those infected , there is a lot of web sites with 4.10 patch , and some are good known to all - more SAVE than this link you did posted .
I hope you understand , you are not banned -that was 1h kick not ban

S!

I appreciate the sentiment and understand why, I was merely underlining the need for caution.

I assume you do not want to lose users over such misunderstandings.

The mod that kicked you was using caution when he checked your link He paged you twice and you ignored him. Maybe use some caution when posting links
