I played both scenarios on IL2 a couple of years ago, but only started online flying last week. I'm still using the original ( not FB )
I have a couple of questions ;
1. I sometimes see the "Cheating Detected" , can people cheat ? how can that happen ?
2. Many fliers appear to have far superior aircraft, even though the aircraft type appears the same as mine, is it just my fying thats poor, any tips gratefully received
3. I can quite happily type in a chat message and send it to ALL but how do you change that to send to MY_ARMY.
4. Can you land to refuel / rearm , How does that work , what do you need to do.
5. I have a PIII 500Mhz with a 16Mb graphics card , is it worth trying FB ??
I have been very happy with the company and manners of the other player , some have also freely offered some advice.
So no surprise I'm finding in very addictive !

They are not cheating its just a warning telling you that their ping is bad and they will probably be warping allover the place

For speed you need to trim your aircraft that also gives you a more stable gun platform as well. I have read that in FB one of the patches made the aircraft trimmed for takeoff so at cruising speed you would find the plane is always wanting to climb. Trim nose down and watch your speed increase.

Not sure on that but you should find it in the manual found within the game CD.

In a dogfight server you takeoff and get a kill. After that you return to your base land, stop and press the escape key. After that click on the re-fly button and you will save your kill points (viewable by the "S" key default) Then you are free to choose another plane of armament. That is the only way to rearm/refule.

On the FB box it says:
Operating system: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
Processor: PIII 800 / AMD Athlon or better.
Memory: 256 MB Ram (512 recommended)
3D Card: (DirectX 8.1 compatible) w/32Mb ram (64 Mb recommended)
Direct X : 8.1 or better.
ATM you are playing IL2 straight with a minimum system.
FB has more effects and Hi rez skins that would probably make the game not enjoyable for you because of low frame rates.
If you like IL2 you will Love IL2/FB.

The getting a kill and landing might be the hard part ; LOL
Thanks for the trimming tip. I wasn't sure if the drag on the aircraft would be different with trim v control use ???
