First, thanks to everyone who has spent so much time trying to help so far, you are all so generous with your time and knowledge.

I have started this new thread because I've become convinced the problem is NOT with my modem [and I do NOT have a router].

I believe the problem must be with some setting in Windows.

And actually it is not a Hyperlobby issue either, as the timeout also occurs when I host in IL2 multiplay, that is, not going through Hyperlobby.

I am posting here anyway, because this seems to be the place to reach out to the most knowledgeable IL2 users.

The history is that I had to reinstall [parallel install] Windows after a Windows repair failed, the repair hanging up halfway through.

After the Windows parallel install I copied and pasted IL2 4.11.1 [fully patched of course] to my pc from an external hard drive where I had saved it.

IL2 appears to work perfectly in all aspects, including joining other rooms/servers through Hyperlobby, with the one exception that I cannot successfully host my own room, the guest always getting timed out.

I am using XP 64 bit, and Windows security essentials for anti virus, BUT the problem persists EVEN WITH THE FIREWALL TURNED OFF.

I believe I have port 21000 allowed in Windows for both Hyperlobby and for IL2, but feel sure I'm missing some little deatil somewhere.

Any ideas are most welcome.

S! Tuck
you could perhaps try the device on another pc if available. one with a clean windows install. i tend to think that the device is the problem as there is not alot of user configerationability (if that is a word). if ISP is not being helpful maybe a move to another ISP is required.
sorry if im short on ideas Sad
hope you can get it sorted

Thanks String,

I am also beginning to think a complete windows clean install will be needed, which is something I've not done before...

Thanks again for all your help

Tuck
