I'm bringing this Jiri's attention. I thought I might as well find out if anyone else is having issues like the one described below.

Jiri, is there anything you can do about the following?

 	  | HL server user wrote: | ...The issue is simply that HL doesn't save your settings when you open up the server window again after "saving" the settings.

Normally, you click in the top slot to host, set your difficulty, enter description, indicated PW protected, etc, then click Save Info. That's when people can click in and see the host listed on top with the server info. In order to launch, you have to go back into the server window and click 'Start the Game'. But when you do that, all the difficulty settings are back to the default, with many unchecked, and even the PW box unchecked. Everything can be reset when you go to launch, and I've started doing that, but I don't think the other people starting our server are doing it, and it's just an annoying thing that shouldn't be an issue at all.

Is there anything you can do to help get HL fixed so that when you set server info and settings and click Save, that it actually saves, and remembers them for when you go back in to launch? |

Jiri, is there anything we can do for your users regarding this issue? |

I tested and checked it and save settings working without problem. Maybe file permission problems. User affected by this may run HL as Administrator, or delete hl configuration profile (content of folder openned by /f chat command). This will delete also contacts, pager messages etc. |

I've also found that the settings aren't saved when you Save Info. The best workaround I've found is to use a default setting ie Easy / Realistic. Unfortunately, the 'Realistic' setting since 4.10m doesn't include the new settings introduced by 4.10m. If they were added to the 'Realistic' setting that would be a significant help. I attached a jpg to show the missing checkboxes from Realistic. |

If using the Dedicated Server IL2 1946

You have to set the server settings in the IL2 server file

Open the Dedicated server root file folder

find the "Server" file

right click on the file

select edit

make setting changes

save.

Now apply the server settings in Hyperlobby to match the dedicated server file settings.

If you are using IL2 SC or FBDj to control the dedicated server the settings can be made directly from there instead of the "server" file in the Dedicated Server root directory. |

HL Ignore saving settings when dedicated server is used, no one asked to add this feature |

Please add the feature, if its possible.

What really matters is that if we use a Custom setting, and start the server using the -a switch, that the difficulty settings are exactly the same as we used last time. At the moment we have to keep checking all the boxes on every (manual) start, but we want to use the -a switch to do this automatically

Alpha is correct in that there are workarounds to make sure the server runs with the right difficulty settings BUT its important that users of HL get to see what the correct settings are |

Gentlemen,

There is a way of saving the HL diff settings using the "Dedicated Server" and I will try to explain here if I still remember. Oldtimers is starting to take over for me... lol

On your local computer, setup a dogfight game with the settings you want HL to see when you host your dedicated server. Now copy or upload the "user" folder to your dedicated server main folder.

If I remember right, that is all you need to do. I will check back here in a few days to see how you made out. Good luck! |

I remember that - it works like this:

Set difficulty as you want in a multiplayer dogfight game

Copy the 'net=' number from[difficulty] section in the "user" folder under the Users folder

Paste the number under [NET] in confs.ini as (for example) "difficulty=2147483647"

But that doesnt check the boxes in HL when you join |

Do as I told you copy the user folder to your dedicated server folder and the boxes will be checked. Take my word for that.

It will not work in the confs.ini file. |

The confs.ini method that I explained above works fine for setting the difficulty settings the server uses, but it doesn't check the boxes in HL.

In my 'Users' folder I have 2 users, A and B.

If I copy 'Users' into the dedicated server folder, the difficulty settings are not read by the server

Are you suggesting I copy 'A' or 'B' instead? If so, I'll give it a go |

Yes, if you want HL to see the settings and display the those for your dedicated server setup, also be sure the numbers match in the confs.ini and the settings.ini in your user folder. That way there will be no surprises for the players that join. |
