I'm running HL on a machine on my internal network here behind a Linux iptables firewall.

when I run hyperlobby the server list is shown but all of them have a ping value "timeout".

pings otbound for me work fine. My firewall is well configured and almost everything works transparently on my internal network or has a port forward setup if needed. I have icmp type 8 forwarded to my machine I play games on so that if pinged my machine is the recipient. The response naturally is sent unhindered.

Of course, my own outbound pings work fine and replies come back in.

I ran tcpdump to see which direction the ping was going. The pings originated on my machine to the game server but no response is made.

i can only surmise that aping itself reports whatever IP address as the reply to and when the server responds it can't reply because my IP is a 192.168.0.x IP and thus non routable on the net.

Is there a workaround for this? i see nothing in the hlpro.ini for what IP it should report itself as.

I am desperate to get my online IL2 games going and the only other way is to put my machine on the adsl modem and thats not gonna happen! Smile

Any help please????
