S!,
First off, this is my first time posting here in Hyperlobby forum. I consider myself one of the original users of Hyperlobby when Jane's Combat Central went down and Jiri rose to the occassion. Through Jiri's efforts, we flight sim junkies have had a place to come together, fly, and have fun. The utility is so good I've never really had to post for a problem or suggestion until now.
My suggestion would be that a data base be created for squadrons to register their callsigns. JV44, Jagdverband 44, has been around since the HL's inception. We have always used the prefix JV44 to identify our members. Unfortunately, there is another group currently out there using the exact, identical callsign. This group is from China apparently and has no idea of proper squadron etiquet. IMO, this is very bad taste to steal another squadron's callsign. Don't get me wrong, I fully expect other folks to want to immulate the great pilots and legend of the historic JV44. However, wouldn't it be simple to just choose another form of callsign? For example, using one of the imposter's callsign, JV44_Sonicwing, why couldn't the squadron used I/JV44_Sonicwing? It's a simple process and avoids debates and confusion. It, imho, shows disrespect. Now, I guess the original HL JV44 could switch to using that form of callsign, but why should we? We have put our time at HL and have built a sound reputation of honor and friendship amongst the HL community. I would hate to have to start over by using a new callsign and let some upstarts steal a callsign that has gained respect over the years. Nearly everyday I'm asked as the CO of JV44, 'Who's JV44_Sonicwing, or Who's JV44_XXX? Nearly everytime, the reason I'm being asked is because of a complaint based on behavior from this new group. I can only apologize to offended pilot and explain that it isn't a member of the original JV44.
I'm sorry I had to post here about a problem, but I thought the suggestion of a squadron database listing callsigns, URLs, and COs might be beneficial to established squadrons. I know free lance pilots could care less, but those of us in established, long time squadrons have worked hard over the years creating and maintaining our groups. I don't think any of these squadrons would appreciate another group using their callsign either.

S!,
What exactly would it take to get such a feature placed into HL? Do you need a one time donation or would such a feature mean an on going expense, ie monthly maintainence $$ ?
Any information that may help the HL community better itself is appreciated.
Sincerely,

... its lots of work. Basicaly we must have:
Web based HL activation, one user one email and disabled freemail servers (it was duscused few times withou final decision).
Web based activation for squadrons.
All this need a web based user interface, rewrite the HL server to use mysql database.
All this must be compatible with the forum registration, and will be resource expensive for the server ...
... it is not a work for free system.
But if you like to send me donation you can, but i wont promise nothing and can give you only my huge appretication.

S! Jiri,
I was looking around the website, but I wasn't able to see a link for donations. You've been so good to all the simmers out there by providing us w/ hyperlobby, I feel ashamed I haven't contributed prior. So, could you post a link where donations can be accepted? Do you use PayPal?
Sincerely,
