Some of you will be aware that, over the past few days, a number of exchanges have occurred, within Hyperlobby and elsewhere, between {VOD}_CO_NUTTER, {VOD}_mAgNaVoX and a number of clanvod members, (Call-sign prefixed with {VoD} - please note the lower-case ‘o’). In some cases these exchanges have regrettably contained offensive language, particularly from some of our more ‘hot-headed’ members, who were extremely angry at the time but who have since offered unreserved apologies within the clan and also in various places within the sim community. We reiterate that apology to all those who were offended by language used by some of our members.
The problem has arisen due to a number of Hyperlobby members who are deliberately trying to discredit clanvod, by taunting bona fide members of the clan online and on our website, and by pretending to be members of the clan. Please be advised that these individuals are not, never have been and never will be members of clanvod . Bona fide members of clanvod are listed in the ‘members’ section of the clan website, at www.clanvod.co.uk, along with their joining dates.
{VOD}_CO_NUTTER has also recently created a hurriedly-put-together website, in which he claims to ‘own VOD’, and has added a few clanvod callsigns to his existing list of callsigns to make it appear that they are actually members of his squad. These have since been reduced to ‘x-members’ having been apparently ‘court-martialled’ by himself.
As far as we can ascertain, neither {VOD}_CO_NUTTER, {VOD}_mAgNaVoX nor any other named members of his squad actually fly on Hyperlobby servers, at least not using their given callsigns, but these two seem to entertain themselves solely by attempting to discredit clanvod in the lobby and elsewhere. They appear to be having some measure of success, as some Hyperlobby members, who perhaps have previously not realised the lack of any relationship between {VOD}_CO_NUTTER and clanvod, are actually calling for the banning of all clanvod members from the lobby. It is evident that NUTTER and his associates have seen clanvod as an up and coming squad, who are obviously having a good time, getting on well together and mixing well with the rest of the community, and feel the need, for whatever reason, to spoil the fun. This is contrary to the spirit of flightsimming and indeed any online gaming.
All bona fide clanvod members are naturally distressed that our previously good name is now, apparently, viewed with a degree of contempt in some areas of the flightsim community, as a direct result of the above actions and by the unfortunate reaction of some of our members. We have assurances that such outbursts from clanvod members will not happen again, however we obviously cannot vouch for those attempting to discredit the clan. We have constantly striven to create and maintain excellent relations with other squads and individual pilots and are eager to assure you all that we will continue to fly with honour, discretion and fairness.
Clanvod was set up initially by {VoD}Darkman and {VoD}Fruity, with a view to getting a group of people together who love flight-simming (and other online gaming) and enjoy a bit of banter as we do it. As a result, friendships have been formed and we now have members all over the world. This is primarily why the group has no formal ranking system, as we fly purely for enjoyment rather than seeing ourselves as superiors and subordinates. Squad decisions are generally made democratically, with the founder members having the final ‘say-so’ if necessary. Anybody is welcome to fly with us at any time and, of course, new clan/squad/team members will always be welcome.
