Hello all
Last two days i have fighted with a HL server bug that allow users to force server crash. The problem was caused than some national languages was abble use reserved characters to break HL server internals. I made a fix that dissalow use of ANY national characters outside of ASCII.
HL was originally not supported national hieroglyphs (azbuka, acutes and carons). I enable use it without aditional checking few years ago and this was the problem ...
Using unicode cracater encoding will double bandwitch of the HL server whish is unacceptable at this time, so i will not start work at this feature (i have no cent from countries using hieroglyphs). I living in coutry that using national characters, but it is not used at all in electronics communication (I working/playing with computers about 20 years, and never need it )
The problem was discovered and used for crashing the HL server by few russian hackers, whish will be credited by banning for ever.
Thats all It was really silly problem.... |

Dear Sirs,
I would like to post this message on this forum,
because my 2 messages were deleted by Hypel Lobby
Administrator without any explanations.
Please note that I am as member of FPS squad, who
reported about HL problem, did not hide my name in my
posts on HL forum.
So blaming some "russian hackers", I am afraid, is not
correct.
Thank you for understanding and
Best regards,
=FPS=Orion71
P.s. Thx a lot. Just only now all become well for my mate (he joined by his name), but now i cant by my name Plz answer for me - I am in banlist? |

Some of the HL users got promoted to hackers staff by (maybe) mistake. The server was crashed due to pager message sent in russian. Maybe it was "Ja lublju tebja" or "Ty durak" Its not important at this time. Ill try made a solution to include support for bandwith friendly multilanguage support, but it should take some time. Until that, multilanguage support remain disabled in order to save some bad problems we have last few days ... |

One simple request, until you'll do so:
Instead of replacing the whole message with "* Only plain ASCII text is supported. Your chat message was deleted !", couldn't you replace the non-ASCII characters with a simple question mark? If I recall correctly, that was the case until you added the "all symbols" feature.
I'm German and we Germans very often use öäüß - it's flat pain in the ass to see that the message doesn't arrive because of that. With ??? instead of those symbols, the message would still appear and one could even see what's meant.
Not to mention I'm not even able to write words like "über" anymore |

Same proble for all spanish speakers with symbols like Ñ for España. It's a very common character iin our language, and it's really difficult to write without using It. And the same for accents like Avión (plane), and so on.
Can we expect any solution soon?
Any way a great and long job, Jiri |
