Gents,
A couple of days ago I lost ability to log onto HyperLobby and the HyperFighter website. I believe it happened on or around March 26, 2007. I am getting a message telling me that I need to open port number 10060 and that my firewall prevents me from logging onto the server. However, I spent several hours already with my firewall settings and I suspect that it is likely not the culprit.
Instead, I want to ask if for whatever reason I might not have been banned from the server? If so, I am guessing that it is a mistake, because I cannot think of anything offensive I could have done.
Online I go by the name of II./JG1_Lang. Is it possible to find out if I have been banned from HyperLobby? And if so, what can be done to lift that ban?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Lang |

When you are banned you get a "connection closed" message.
Nothing more.
I suspect other issues.

Thanks Slaughter. I appreciate any input I can get.
This is what I get when I try to start HyperLobby.
Quote: | Error Socket: 10060 The attempt to connect timed out |
...and then in the lower portion of the window:
Quote: | Connecting the HyperLobby server failed. Please check your firewall configuration. HyperLobby program (hlpro.exe) must have enabled access to the Internet ! |
I have added Socket 10060 to the allowed list in Windows. I have also added hlpro.exe to the program list, which is allowed to connect automatically in Norton Internet Security. I even tried disabling my Firewall.
As a last resort, I reverted the OS to a restore point several weeks prior to the beginning of the problem.
I have installed HL on two separate computers behind the same router and I am having identical issues with both machines.
No-go on all counts.
Also, I cannot connect to the website from any of my computers at home. I can connect from the office.
Any ideas?

Gents,
I have a feeling that my IP address might be on some kind of access-deny list. If so, I can assure you that it is a typo as I know I have done nothing to offend the HL community.
Who should I contact to discuss further this issue?
Any help would be appreciated.

ok so help me to get this straight you have 2 PC's on 1 router and you can't get either to connect to HL
1 what if any firewalls do you have up ( if you use a firewall then why because they are not nessissary when using a router )
2 have you opened port 1698 TCP & UDP in your router so that HL can connect (some routers block this port and it needs to be opened ) |

Thank you so much for taking the time to work with me on this.
Yes, I have 2 PC's behind a router. They were able to connect to HL and Hyperfighter website for years. Two weeks ago both computers lost ability to connect to HL and Hyperfighter.sk website
In regards to Question 1 - I have Symantec Internet Security 2005 firewall. I continue to pay for my antivirus subscription since then. I don't know why I have it - I had it before I bought the router and HL worked for years with router and firewall before it quit on me two weeks ago. For the record, I tried to run HL with disabled firewall. I also tried to plug one of the computers directly into the modem and bypass the router. In both cases I still didn't gain access.
In regars to Question 2 - I have not opened the above-mentioned ports. Thank you for input - I will try that and report back.
Best regards,

I have now tested opening port 1698 TCP and UDP in my router. Still no improvement.
What can we do?
Can any administrator assist this poor HL end-user?

then you have a firewall blocking access and i'm afaraid that you have to sort that out on your own
symantec Internet Security 2005 firewall when it shows turned off is usually still active so you need to make sure that it is giving access to HL
( for this reason amongst others i don't use symantec software as they are resourse hogs and are not user friendly products)
also make sure your windows firewall is turned off
you'll find that in security centre
good luck with getting this sorted out as i can no longer help you out because it's a problem with your firewall software on your machine
and they vary from version to version |

Thank you for your attempts to sort out my recent difficulties. What is baffling to me is that I don't have access to this very website either from home - is my firewall preventing access to Hyperfighter.sk as well? (All other internet traffic works fine). This is why I suspect some kind of access-deny ban, which is cutting me off of the HL community.
Is there a way to verify that no such block is being applied to my IP?
Regarding the possibility of my Symantec Firewall being the culprit, I can completely uninstall it and see whether things improve.
Anyway, thanks for your posts and I will report back when I test the firewall uninstall option.
Thanks,
