I cannot make an account due to HL not finding Il-2 1946 game and I have put in the directory myself and it still doesn't work? Is HL compatible with 1946??

Assuming that 1946 will run off line.
Try making a copy of the installation folder outside of the Program files folder.
This seems to be a common issue with Vista.
Yes HL runs 1946 and in a Vista enviorment.
I am now running Vista64, it runs great.

I made a copy of the whole folder outside of the program files folder. I might be misunderstanding you though? Do mind explaining it agian thank you.  |

If hyperlobby is properly installed you
now need to have hyperlobby point to the new files.
