I have just purchased IL 1946 and joined HL very recently. It looks like I cannot join in a game online, since my version is 4.07m. Where do I get the v4.071m upgrade?

**Solution**
HyperLobby will choose the game "IL-2 Sturmovik" by default.
But if you have "IL-2 Sturmovik 1946" you'll have to choose "IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles" for things to work.
1. Start up HyperLobby
2. If it says it can't find the game, just press cancel
3. In the top right, click "PLAYER LISTS" and choose "CONNECT / SELECT GAME"
4. If you have"IL-2 Sturmovik 1946" then select "Forgotten Battles"
You should be able to figure out the rest yourselves.

what if I have both? seems like it wants to play forgotten battles instead of loading my 1946......should i uninstall the forgotten battles?

Nope, you do not need to uninstall anything.
You can manually type the path in hyperlobby
or better yet, copy and paste it.
