every time I connect to HL the screen freezes. I can see some of the chat. some of the dogfights are lit up. if I try to join a dog fight the game loads and there is no way of connecting to the host. I have a cable connection with a good speed. anyone have any suggestions.

Sorry you posted at bad time as the tech forum was locked.
Post up in the tech section with stated info and firewall router etc.
Make sure you were not joining beta patched games that are been used frequently too.
