Password Via Chat!? Safe?

Since the patch I unstalled and reinstalled, yet I do not get any connection beyond this dialog: Enter password via chat.

If it IS what I have to do, is there a syntax to enter the information properly?

Is there a link to this information?

Thanks! I been jonesing for some online!

Afterall, I entered my password and email into the open buffer as requested by server.

It worked.

Now, I typed it into the open buffer. Of course I tried regular connect procedure before being asked for my password and email.

That I found strange, being suspicious of mal-play!

For all who come with this question,

put your password and email through buffer after upgrading the patch.

I just installed the 3.6.68 straight over my old version. All login info was remembered.
New users must go through the first connect (registration via the chat area with server) process only once then it should not ask you again unless you have entered the incorrect information into Callsign area before login.
