This Bf109D-1 belonged to 1/JGr 102 (I/ZG2) which fought in the Polish campaign of September 1939. The ture purpose of the white and black band is unkown, but may have indicated that this aircraft belonged to the Staffelkapitan. Note the pre-war positioning of the swaztika.
