I had it working, but now it doesnt. I have opened the ports required ( 21000, and 1698), and even tried the dmz. I am running a d link router. I show up on HL, but my name is orange (or yellow), and when my friends try to connect, it times out. any suggestions?

I take it the problem started when you ran through your router?
Try Dlink support or ask if anyone uses a Dlink router in the lobby.

You do have to set up port forwarding to host with UDP 21000 for il2 and TCP 1698 for the HL client. If your router is a good firewall then make sure your windows firewall is off in network settings (I could never host) and never run the router in DMZ because it opens your computer to attack.
