I run two Dedicated servers for IL2 FB that are up 24*7 and like to run them through Hyperlobby to benefit the most people in the community.

BUT More or less EVERY Day Hyperlobby loses connection and displays "Connection Closed" .
My IL2 Servers stay up running but the community utilises Hyperlobby to find them thus leaving them Empty until I reset Hperlobby, IL2 and FBDaemon on both servers.
To do this Every day is becoming very labour intensive.

Why is Hyperlobby losing connection? and what can I do to fix it?

My two dedicated Servers Run From a Data Center --They are Dedicated servers and only have one Account each and are NEVER used as a Client Box.

The HyperLobby Accounts are:

#1 "ASRG_Dedicated"
#2 "ASRG2_Dedicated"

The most I have seen Hyperlobby stay up is about 2 Days -It also seems odd that when the Connection to my servers drop out that the server list on Hyperlobby is also Very low - maybe only 1 or 2 servers, Does Hyperlobby reset the master server everyday or so ? thus losing connection to the Clients?.

The Server accounts are not used by any other Box , we use Seperate Client logins to access Hyperlobby from Client boxes.

If the Problem was on one box it would point to the Client - yet as it is both boxes lose connection at the same time --and I know the Data Center is not going off the air every day.

Here is a Paste of a Trace to your Server :

ping hyperfighter.jinak.cz

Pinging snail.infocity.cz [212.71.138.15] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 212.71.138.15: bytes=32 time=341ms TTL=234
Reply from 212.71.138.15: bytes=32 time=341ms TTL=234

Reply from 212.71.138.15: bytes=32 time=341ms TTL=234

Ping statistics for 212.71.138.15:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 341ms, Maximum = 341ms, Average = 341ms

As you can see, even with a Data Center Grade connection straight into the Backbone, the response halfway around the Globe to your Master is not that good, is it possible during peak loads that connections will be lost?

I need to get this issue resolved no matter how long it takes, any more info you need from my end will be provided.

Thanks for your Assistance.

Both servers Just lost connection at the same time -- I saw them directly as I was logged in via my Home Box under another Hyperlobby Client Account.

Time of lost connection was : Thu, 24 Jul 2003 07:40:00 UTC or
Thu, 24 Jul 2003 17:40 SYD Austalia (+10GMT).

Both servers went from this :

TCP asrg12:3385 snail.infocity.cz:1698 ESTABLISHED

to this :

TCP asrg12:3385 snail.infocity.cz:1698 CLOSE_WAIT

Also within 5 Minutes of the servers losing connection to hyperlobby my Client machine (at home- off a seperate ISP ) lost connection to Hyperlobby as well.

Pings to Hyperlobby server seemed Normal - there was Zero packet loss at all.

Both servers were connected to Hyperlobby for approx 2 Full days before this disconnection occured.

#define TM_NOACTIVE 1800
#define TM_INFLIGHT 86400

After those times get connection kicked .... I can give more time for TM_INFLIGHT (current is one day) How much do you want ?

Hi Jiri

Thanks for the Response, Ideally for a dedicated server it would be wonderful to have the #define TM_INFLIGHT 86400 set to some isanely high number but 604800 (1 Week) would be nice .

At this point in time IL2 seems to have a Minor memory leak which prob makes the Total IL2 Server uptime no longer than about 5 to 6 days straight. So approx 1 week of Hands off server admin would be Bliss compared to the Current Situation.

Possibly you could make these two settings :
#define TM_NOACTIVE 1800
#define TM_INFLIGHT 86400

able to be set via the "hlpro.ini" file, this would add end user flexibility.

Thanks for the assistance, if you can modify these settings it would help us out alot, Thanks .

Jiri

Any word on when this is likely to be rectified?

It seems like this issue may be more Urgent than ever as Greatergreen seems to be haveing issues with the new patch trying to Host outside Hyperlobby or UBI .

This means more 24*7 Servers for Hyperlobby --resetting Hyperlobby 704+ Times a year isnt any fun for my admin team.

Plus resetting the 24*7 LOMAC Server in a few Months every day as well will push things over the Limit.
