I am new to HL. Do I have to disable my ZoneAlarm Firewall in order to host missions here?

I run a hardware firewall through a router, and I must disable it or set it up so that my computer specifically is not protected by the firewall in order to host missions, so I suppose you need to, and judgeing from other people online that run the same software as you, in order to host online games, they needed to also. So, I believe the answer to you question is yes. Smile

I used to use Zone alarm and could host up FB.
Is your windows firewall on aswell?
Turn the windows one off and try.
It can be found in your network connections.
Right click on your local area connections icon and click on properties.. From there select your Advanced tab and un tick the box if its enabled. (XP only).

You shouldn't need to disable ZoneAlarm to host, you just need to allow to il2fb.exe to act as a server inside Zone Alarm's settings.

As the guys say above though, you will probably need to disable WindowsXP's own firewall.

Salute all,

Gunny gave you the solution, disable XP firewall.
In Zone allarm options let the port 21000 pass trough and youre done.

If youre using a router, you need to configure it also to let pass the port 21000 to you machine.

IMPORTANT: I know some people tells you the easy solution "turn of your Firewall", dont do it, the net is full of spoiled brats that enjoy messing people computers up. So take the long way and configure your firewall. Just a sujestion.

Hope it helps
