hyperlobby crashes computer immediately on activation

i need help here.

... when i format or reformat a drive.. my computer works fine.... up until the point of adding HL.

immediately apon starting... i get this

.computer lockup
.computer shutdown
.computer reboot
.mouse flyin everwhere..opening up all sorts of stuff.
.computer shuts off with nobody touchin it ... whenever
. computer STARTS UP!..when nobody near it... whenever

this has happened exactly the same on several occasions.. each time i update any new antivirus updates, anti spayware update..... which BTW..find NOTHING... (many times it shuts down right during the middle of a power up.)

"POSSESSION" usually last 3 to 4 days... but even when things look "ok" if i start hyperlobby ... friends lists disappear everytime i load it, and players lists, are scrollin up and down wildly

IM glad we have HL..... but i hate the "installation" because its exactly the same everytime .

if i delete HL from my system ...alll is good .....

i did notice that when i tried XP for a few weeks..this didnt happen

but im back on WINDOZE 98 for now "lost my ..uh..er...key for XP..um yeah)

hope this will help in discovering what else is FUBAR with my comp..

That does not sound good and funny it only happens under windows 98.
Have you reinstalled the Visual Basic 5.0 SP3 runtime package found in the download section of this site?
I also have to ask if when you say you delete Hyperlobby you really mean uninstall as I know of people who think its fine to add programs to the recycle bin?
Its a pity you cant forget about windows 98 but I am guessing you have a game that runs better under that OS.
Try that VB5 SP3 and see how you go.
If not this is a bump..

i have not tried that ... thx for the info..

as for 98.. I dont have a need for it.. but i stick to it. HL is/was the only item that really made me want to leave...98

on the other hand

XP gave me a ton of hardware crashes for my graphic card, sound card, and my saitek x-45 controller.... plus assingning keys to teamspeak into the controller (on XP)..dont work.

i dont have a preference.. just sticking to what i have less problems with.
