I am wanting to know if anyone here in HL uses satellite internet service? Is it worth the money...time and effort? I am looking into getting a system and would like some feed back from someone that is also using it. I have a freind using it for online gaming..but not IL2...he seems to like it but the graghics in his game are as intense as there here. Well any feed back would be nice.
Thanks

I do not have satellite but from what I understand it is not good for gaming.Although the speeds are good the latency(ping) is poor. The signal has to travel to the satellite up and down cause a large time delay. |

Hey Bloodshot,
From what I understand satellite has worse latency than dial-up….which makes it worse for gaming.
Getting your connection from a satellite is like living 1000 miles away from your isp. It takes longer for the information to get to you but once it does, it streams like cable or dsl.
It’s great for dnloading but sucks for anything that’s interactive like games and comms. Tcas has satellite and would always us his dial-up for the above reason.
I don’t have access to any form of broadband here and am hoping wireless will get to this part of the country….. one of these years. |

from what i hear goes along with what is already posted here , sattelite is not very good for high speed games , I have heard some say they were going aback to 56 k modem , if you could get ahold of BUFORD at CFS1 he has sattelite . To get into CFS 1 now you have to go thru the 2004 sim . |
