I also had this error and finally got HL working under Mandrake 10, Wine 0.91 , and initial setup of wine with Winetools which sets up the environment well.

With the dedicated server I setup il2server.exe and il2fb.exe to be win2k.

I was able to install and run the dedicated server, but HL fails with runtime error 430: class doesn´t support automation.... any info about this available?

The startup log indicates that the program required ctl3d.dll, which was loaded, and then an error stating it required and expected a 32 bit dll but got a 16bit version...

I´ve been working on this issue for quite some time but can´t get past this problem. Maybe, if somebody can point out the dll that causes the 430 error, I can add it to HL manually and link the native version instead of the .so file...

Jiri, if you should read this, can you tell me which .dll files are dynamically linked in the code so I can add the native versions to my linux installation? EDIT: ok thats not necessary, I used WINEDEBUG to get this info... it seems to be the ole32.dll that causes the problem...

Regards,

Frankie

Edit(2):
Since it may be of general interest I´ll continue with the next step(s).
The upper problem was caused by oleaut32.dll
Using a native lib from a win installation fixed the problem.

Since I had a similar problem with wsock32.dll I tried the same procedure with it, but get an "CreateProxyFromTypeInfo" - "object doesn´t expose this interface" msg.

Edit(3):
Further research yielded the result that wine doesn´t support OLE automation. So thats where I am... I´ll try other versions of this dll... any help?

Edit(4):
OK installed all the native libs manually - whew - but I get an "OutOfMemory" error now... after loading mswinsck.ocx ... and that is where I stand right now.

Frankie are you actually installing hyperlobby using the installer?
Using winetools to install all the required updates for IE and windows allowed me to use the actual installers , and made the environment for il2fb.exe win2k using winetools "modify wine configuration" . Default environment windows 98.

Yes I used the installer. I tried winetools but got an error about a missing GTK+ environment, so no luck here... I updated/installed DCOM components manually. Still trying here...

Current console output is:

Ok after fiddling with the dll s I get no more FIXME: or ERR:OLE messages. It looks much better, but I still have the "Out of Memory" message that shows up after the splash screen progress bar has reached 100%... Jiri that may be something you can answer - what would be your first try?

SUCCESS: after reinstalling a VALID and CONSISTENT set of .dll files I was able to start the hyperlobby.

Hints:
- wine MUST emulate Win98
- I needed to install the following native .dlls from a win cd: ws2_32.dll, wsock32.dll, ole32.dll, oleaut32.dll, olepro32.dll, imm32.dll, rpcrt4.dll, msvcrt.dll, mswinsck.ocx
- caveat: even if you do install all these files be prepared to fiddle with it all day long... it took >20hrs in my case, and I don´t think I´m done with all of it.

Hi all

I would appreciate some help on this.
I've been trying to get HL to run under linux (ubuntu 6.06) and so far i've only managed to install the application using either wine or crossover office.

It installs alright, creates appropiate shortcuts, but when i try to launch the application nothing happens.

I'm a complete linux noob so any help would be greatly appreciated and please dont spare any details lol.

I got to the point:

trace:loaddll:load_native_dll Loaded module L"C:\\Games\\HyperLobbyPro3\\imm32.dll" : native
fixme:win:User32InitializeImmEntryTable (0x19650412): stub

and now I am stuck Sad

Lobby loads a bit and I get System Error &H800706BA

I don't know about valid and consistent set of DLLs I copied them over from my windows 2000 partition from system32 directory and it's no go Sad damn

I'm new linux user (one week). I hope that this will help someone

If u install wine 0.9.5 and winetools 0.9 you can install all windows software with no problems, HL runs fine.

see this for more help: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=149585

I'm trying to setup dedicated server ... but no luck so far ...

Best regards,
