I need help please. (Im a total Sturmovik noob BTW, so please have patience!)

I have installed this game and everything went OK but when when I start the game and go to the Main Menu, it just looks like a single Sturmovik game and not the multiple pack (Pacific Fighters, Forgotten Battles etc.) as advertised in 1946. Is this normal or should I see all of the expansion packs seperately on the main menu???

My question is also backed up by the fact that I cannot connect to the multiplayer servers. Any time I try to connect (via the Ubisoft servers) it says that "Forgotten Battles has not been installed"?????!! I thought Forgotten Battles was already installed in 1946?!? (I have installed the patch 4.08 also)

Please Help!! Thanks.
Embarassed

First... when you start the game and go to the main menu(offline) it WILL look the same.(just has more maps, planes, etc.).
When you install 1946 it installs as a seperate game in your Progams folder. Just make sure you are starting the 1946 game and not the "single Sturmovik game"(if you still have it). You can tell by the startup/loadup screen, it shows the game version at bottom left corner, and top left will have 'plaques' showing the expansion packs.

Second... You need to direct HL to your 'new' install of 1946.... Startup HL... Right click the "connect" button.... click the "search" button.... select the path to your 1946 "il2fb.exe" (you might get more than one result so make sure you choose the correct one).... click "save"....

Thanks Spray, I unterstood your first explanation perfectly but I have never played Sturmovik online before.

When you select to play online from ubisoft, and when all of the servers are listed (which is where I get the "FB not installed message") - is that the HL?? If it is the HL, I cannot see any "connect" button. Basically I dont know where the HL is!!!

Sorry about my extreme online newbism!! Thanks again.

That's ok mate, we all had to start somewhere Wink

And I'm sorry I missed what you said in your first post..."Any time I try to connect (via the Ubisoft servers)"
Anyhow Ubisoft servers aint that good anyway.

HL = HyperLobby... The program the vast majority of FB players use to play online. Similar idea to Ubisofts but much much better. Here's a direct link to it...
http://hyperfighter.sk/download-file-9.html

Install it and follow the steps I posted earlier. Check out the "Hyperlobby manual" at top left of this page.

Using HL you don't need to have the game running to join servers, you just choose a server on HL to join and it'll load the game for you.

If you still want to use Ubisoft servers, your best bet is ubi.com for info. But you should try HL first, you'll be glad you did. Wink
