How are we handling this poorly? We have a grievance with a hyperlobby user, so rather than abuse him personally we have banned him from our servers however he then starts abusing others. We have then brought the issue to the attention of the mods on this site.
How would you do this any differently?

[EDIT] Speaking of which, where are the mods?

Your handling it PERFECTLY!!!
You have taken care of things on your end and made the public aware of the issue.
There is not much else that you can do.
Sadly hyperlobby and the forum is getting full of this exact kind of thread.
Strangely enough one person's name continues to show up most these threads.

Yes, I was going through some of the older threads and can definitely see a reccuring theme. Hence my earlier post "I am politely asking you not to respond to this" which was completely ignored.
I'm not sure why some people do that kind of thing, probably jsut attention. But whatever it is it only complicates the situation and tarnishes that persons already very poor reputation.

That being said, the person we were reffering to in the opening post is still at large. Mods, where are you?

[EDIT] Mabey if I made this persons other aliases availible, would that help?

Not to the mods, but to the community it might.
Let the public know what names are not in your squad so they can stay clear of that person. He would most likely stick out like a sore thumb in chat anyways. So not really important. And if you post them here,
he can just change them again. But thats your choice. 50/50

The problem is not banning this guy from our particular server and instructing squad members to stay away from him and ignore his rants, the problem is that unrestricted on HL, this nutjob is creating havoc.

The 809 squad has received complaints from non squad members whom he has abused - in one case, racially. I don't care who you are, that's not good enough.

I don't know if something has been done without comment in this thread, but the fact this topic hasn't received much attention from anyone in the way of a moderator is frustrating. The guy is racially, sexually, emotionally and psychologically taunting HL users and he is making 809 look like a squad of rabid fruit-cakes.

I have done a search through my chat log(s).
The search criteria is to find anything pertaining to the 809 squad.

I saw nothing where your friend posted anything offensive.
Nothing.

This reminds me of when RS_Bloodshot tried to turn the entire RS squad
on me for kicking him from my servers.
Blood's connection sucks, extremely bad 56K connection.
Autokick got him repeatedly.

Boy did he get pissed because he got kicked! Laughing

Get a life guys. Ganging up on this clown will only result in your getting
a life time ban, just like Bloodshot. He is banned for life.
Bloodshot is back as RS_BloodShotS. He should be banned again
as he is NOT supposed to be there.

Point is that going on the attack can and will backfire.

Enjoy the game, use the ignore feature.

He searched his chat logs . OMG so funny he has nothing better to do.....Now that is honestly funny...

Doddlebug, you will find NOTHING in the chat log. All his abuse was either through pager or in game chat on the GamingSA and 453_Australia servers, as has already been stated.
We already are using the ignore feature, but he is STILL abusing OTHERS.

Unless you have better help than this, please refrain from posting in this thread.

It seems that the mods and admins are not able to take care of the issue at hand right now. Don't hold that against them. Sure it is a good reason.
Dodobug seems to try to be hijacking your thread for his own personal harrassment game. I would let this thread die.

For the time being try this suggestion and see what you think.
( atleast till you speak with a mod )

Start a new thread called something like "Legitimate 809 squad members"
Post the names of your squad mates handles.
Then a small note at the bottom explaining that someone else is impersonating your squad and causing trouble.
(MAYBE post a few names he is using)

The when you or your mates get a complaint from someone you can direct them or send them to that link. May make things easier for everyone and your mates without going into 2 hours of paging back trying to explian things. (And Uberpoop can start his own thread for his mental issues )

Does that help any?
