Have been using Sidewinder forcefeed stick with saitek pedals......stick and pedals still work Rudder control axis on sidewinder does not...it is broke and so is my right ankle Looking for temporary replacement joystick with all three axis controls on the stick.....I had a saitek evo force stick awhile back and rudder control went out on it...I tossed it in the trash.... Any ideas for a force feedback stick around a hundred bucks? One that will hold up......Thanx..... I really miss playing IL-2 online.... |

I have had a Saitek Evo for a few years, it's still ok.
MS was the best, but they dropped the joystick line.

Update: Saitek "cyborg evo forcefeed" arrived a few hours ago......bought new and it works...sort of ? all axis move in the right direction....stick is very imprecise...sloppy...compared to other set up that I had (MS sidewinderII and Saitek pedals)...anyone out there with the same rig have any suggestions to "set it up" for a more precise control....any advice would be appreciated......Thanx |

I was at FUTURE SHOP the other day and found a really nice joystick on for $85.00. It is very good. PLUS:IL-2 does not require you to use a joystick. Although it's fun to use the joysticks, you can still play IL-2 in the mean-time while looking for another joystick... |

I used to use the old ms sidewinder and loved it for IL2, so I know your pain in trying to find a replacement. After several failed outings with other force feedback sticks, I took a deep breath and decided to give the saitek x52 a go. I used to rely quite heavily on the ms stick's ffb telling me when I was approaching the stall point, getting shot at from behind, etc when flying online. With some adjustment on my part getting used to the lack of ffb, I have to say the X52 is a charm I have every control I could wish for mapped on the stick. My senses adjusted quite quickly to start relying on the wind sounds and screen shake to let me know what the airframe is doing in the heat of battle.
I realise the hotas sticks can be quite expensive and all lack ffb sadly. However, this is offset by the added functionality of having so many types of different programmable controls at hand and is a godsend for a complex flight sim and really makes up for the lack of ffb. |

Been a couple of weeks....The evo ffb stick works sort of....rudder issues, tamed somewhat....still, the stick is imprecise...hard to adjust and I would not recomend it.... It is a shame the MS stick is no longer made...sure wish some one could copy it....seems like very little interest remains in ffb future....I love my Saitek peddals....when I get cast off foot, will go back to them and beloved MS ffb sidewinder II...of which only the roll and pitch axis work....no probllems with the using the pedals....LOL...Thanx all and it seems the Saitek X52 will be a down the road purchase..... |
