Hi all, Im wondering if anyone can help me with a problem which Im having when trying to log onto Hyper lobby.
When I try to log on I get this error message.
HyperLOBBY
Runtime error '462'
No compatable data source was found for this control. Please add an Intrinsic Data Control or a remote Data Control to the forum.
I did a google search on the error however the info I recieved was of too technical a nature to be of any use to me.
The error is some kind of Visual Basic Glitch I believe, however I'm not a programmer and I'm mystified as to how to fix it. I have :
Uninstalled and reinstalled HL, with reboot afterwards,
and rolled back the computer to various dates with no joy, again with a reinstall of HL afterwards.
Does anyone know ALL of the registration entries that HL installs so that I can be sure I've got them all ?? Then I will try to reinstall.
I haven't tried this yet.
I am currently using XFire to connect, however I'm not sure how that affects my showing up in HL, stats, etc.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as I don't really want to reformat simply because one program is pooched.
The only other problem I seem to be having is my creative sound card dosn't always hold its default settings on reboot.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions offered. |

I had to re-install and have the same issue. B4 this, I could connect and get in the lobby but once I clicked on a server, the screen minimized (normal) but then b4 it even got to the host, I was back in the lobby again. Game works find outside of lobby (ie: offline).
I have emailed Jiri directly and will advise. |

He suggested malware or virus was causing the problem.
When I originally installed it, I put it in another (partitioned) drive (where the game was actually).
This time, I installed in C (hate that but ran out of options). It now runs normally.
Hope this helps. |

I agree with Jiri.
I bet you got a virus or worm hiding in a file or folder.
A friend had a similar problem and we found it was the DLL.EXE worm.
It was hiding in many different folders
and invading .exe programs including IL-2 FB.
As soon as he ran the game it would re-install the virus.
Nortons eliminated it.
That may not be your exact problem, but Worms and viruses can be
very well written and gide in very unusual places.
We figured he got it from a music download site.
Try a Nortons virus scan.

Not doubting you but I find it hard to believe that this virus targets only Hyperlobby exe.
In any case, I'll try a couple of online scanners & see.
Thanks for confirmation and I'll advise. |

Nope, more likely it targets all .exe's.
DLL.EXE targets all .EXE files, MS IE first.

1st off I did a search for dll.exe: not found. Should I have found at least one example?
I ran a scan in safe mode and came up clean.
Am now running an online scan (about 75% done and clean so far as well).
All this with HL being uninstalled, registry cleaned and hd defragged. I will wait for the online scan to finish (assume it will be clean also) and reinstall HL.
Will advise. |

I should have qualified that by stating 'DLL.EXE and or similar worms/viruses'.

OK. Understood.
I've run 2 virus scans (one in safe mode and one online scanner)-->clean. Cleaned registry with two different programs. Defragged.
No time to try installing HL again and trying but will in the next day or three & will advise. |

Here is the same prob with that Error Message 462 and my system is clean too. The first time a new installation was working same as by voyager_663rd but in the old folder, but next day the errormassage came again and HL can´t start. Search´t for the prob. in google and it must be a Visual basic Problem. |

But not all are experiencing this issue so what is different about VB? Are there different versions of VB? |
