Hello how are you?

I have a linksys router, two Alienware computers, and Road Runner cable modem. I can host a game if one computer is directly connected to the cable modem. But I can't when I am using the linksys router. When I try to host a game while using the linksys router, other players tell me that my ping says "timeout" What must I do to configure the router so that I may host a game?

Also what are yout ports for the web, SSL Encryption, Chating, and gaming port. Thankyou! for you time in helping me to resolve this issue.

Im running a computer with a cable modem and my ping is timed out. That just means your ping is bad. It gets better sometimes.

Oh so wrong.

Its because you dont have port forwarding and ICMP echo setup.

Do a search, there is info on this.

Check your configuration in the router and put the server ip in DMZ option OR do it like explained in the previous post.

Be aware that DMZ is not good for a secure system.
You might as well not even have a hardware firewall installed.
Gco808, You are better asking at linksys site for configuration of their devices. The ports you need to host are 1698TCP for HL and 21000UDP for Il2 if il2 is the game you are trying to host.

I also have a linksys router and my server is behind the router with the 1698TCP for HL and 21000UDP for Il2 ports fowarded to the Server IP .
People from HL can join and server is running fine.

The only thing i did not figure out yet is for me to join the server i host , i need to join by lan. because if i try to join by HL it will load the mission but it wont pass for the base choose screen.
Is there any port fowarding, or option i need to set?

If anyone have some info on this subject i would apreciate if you post wow to do it.
