Well pretty amazing to see. I've been using Hyperlobby since day 1 and I've never seen it full.
Jiri is there anything that can be done about this?
980 players is the maximum. Now that so many people have downloaded Pacific Fighters Hyperlobby is reaching its current maximum |

Ouch. For that i must rewrite the HL server software to run on multiple servers, in a cluster ... And this is alot of work ...
Maybe when more ppls de$erve it |

hmm - i rather would split the community into one room for pacific fighters standalone, one room bellum war, etc (it´s very hard to see that bellum spam in the chat window like this : bw3 needed , vvs wanted bla bla) ,
and one room forgotten battles/pacific fighters "merged installation"
it´s occuring more often these days that i can´t join the hyperlobby because it has reached it maximum member capacity
another thing i noticed :
when 600-700 people are playing, more then 200 are just staying in hyperlobby chat and not join or wait in a slot
that was my idea about that problem |

it was explained already that 980 is the total for all rooms, so splitting community wouldn't change anything |

i overread that - sorry !
i thought that splitting in different rooms would be enough.
when overwriting the software is the only solution then how can we support jiri? |

I was just going to post about this. I was going to ask jiri what he needs to maybe support 1500 players max.
Maybe donations or somthing to help upgrade the HL server. Even a few nights during the week its been at 980, you always can get on with a bunch of tries but would be nice to see more people online then 980 becuase usually there is 400 just chatting, I do it myself alot just stay on when at work chatting then fly when I get home.
S in hopes of max player increase and server update. I use ase alot too but usually join thru HL, I use ASE to see all ip servers and true player ammounts but the no chat thing stinks.
Best program would be one like ASE with a irc chat window at the bottom but doubt anyone would be so generous to make one similiar and for free like jiri has for many years with HL and saved janes wwii fighters and made it live on many years after janes shutdown. |

1. Timeout those that are 'Away'
2. Make the timeout shorter than it currently is.
You'll clear out room just by removing people that are idle. |

what is the reason for the limit?
is it ISP imposed through packet sniffing or is it imposed something else?
I was wrote a TCP/IP massively multiplayer game and my strategy to handle so many players was this: I'm not a particularly good network programmer so well ignore
strategy 1) was for every command message, chat thing or anything I did a log on op, send the command, log off. This meant that despite my facist ISP imposing a limit of 12(!) connections to a service - I could allow an unlimited number of players to participate.
strategy 2)
was for me to have a logging server that listened.
a client would connect, tell the server the clients IP address, then that client would open a server for the hyperlobby server to spawn a connect to the chatting persons server.
this way I could beat the 12 limit by having the server have hundreds of outgoing connections. |

Its getting worse.
Like I said before, great news! the Il2 community is expanding.
Seems to me a game of this calliber, with each new release, has a population growth of on-line players.
Less than 1000 capability is not going to be enough.
I dont want to instal ubi on my comp but each weekend its getting more and more likely I`m gonna get the HL full message no matter how long I sit and push connect and I`m only willing to do this for a few minutes.
I have left and come back a half hour later only to get same message.
Put it this way ,tried at 21:00GMT,full,21:30GMT,full,22:00GMT,full,one hour has passed, cannot get into HL.
I really appreciate the HL but Americas army has an average of 6000 players on-line at any one time,Half-life 41000 ,I know that 980 is kool most of the time but I would guesstamate that IL2 will need 2000 to 3000 player capabilities for peak periods in the near future.
Mabye I`m wrong here and I mean no offence.
I`m just telling it like I see it and this is my postualtion |
