Hallo everybody,
My problem is that my ISP provider requires a change of IP every 24hrs.
I can solve most of my problemes using DynamicDNS.
However, with Hyperlobby, I have to restart Hyperlobby and host a game every time.
This is difficult since I am not very often at home (travel a lot).
I believe that the problem is that HL is using the IP address of the server.
Is there a possibility for HL to remember the DNS Name of my computer ?
This way (I hope) every time the IP changes, people can still login into my server.
Is my assumption correct and, is this at all possible ?
Bets regards,

Hello
After latest updates, HL client refreshing informations, include your actual IP every 5 minutes, so you dont worry about this. Other problem should be the game. But how the game deal with the IP change during gameplay i really dont know, and if its problem the dyndns really not help you ... |

Thanks Jiri,
After your comments I looked at the setup files of my IL2 Dedicated Server
I noticed every time the game starts, it creates a file called
conf.ini
with content:
[NET]
speed=10000
localPort=21003 (I use port 21003)
localHost=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (my current IP Address)
remoteHost=
remotePort=21000
[game]
Intro=0
I tried to replace the IP address with a DNS Name and made the file Read-Only.
Unfortunately it did not help.
During restart, the game overwrote the conf.ini replacing the DN name with a static IP address |

This option is ignored if you have only one network adapter. Overwriting this ip can be disabled. Have look in to the faq ...
BTW adding there a name instead of IP is ignored too ... |

Hallo Jiri,
unfortunately it looks as it is more of a HL problem than IL2FB problem.
In HL the server is 335th_SERVER
Direct IP is 335thserver.dyndns.ws:21002
If I connect to the server via IP (without Hyperlobby) at 335thserver.dyndns.ws:21002 I can get connected any time.
If I connect via HL the program starts and connects to the server.
But if I try to connect myself 24 hours later (after the IP of my ISP has changed) HL fails to do the connection (I get timeout errors).
Any ideas ?

Hi,
When I start HL and dedicated server, after 24H my ISP disconnects me and than assignes me new IP adress, after that no one can connect to my server.
I even try scheduled internet connection which is running 23 hours and is 1 hour disconnected.
HL reconects good, but no one can connect it trough the HL but direct connection using domain name is still possible.
Jiri can you tell me what adress HL sends after reconnect. Seems to me that HL is sending wrong IP adress to HL server.
Please help |

HL do not sending IP. The IP is detected by the HL server. Due to some caching that save HL server bandwitch and utilization i stripped some operations like checking the IP change. I have fixed it today, so the server is able to track client IP change (hopefully ). When it will not work please report it.
