Is the Saitek X45 Joystick compatible with Pacific Fighters and how do they compare with the new Saitek X52, (as the X45 looks more sturdy and less fancy) ?

Jem ,
Well Saitek X45 is fine with PF . You'll see that within controls setups for PF that there is a special section for programming HOTAS ( X45 or 52 is a HOTAS - Hands On Throttle and Stick)
Comparing x45 and x52 - X45 has rudder on throttle , x52 has a twist rudder built into joystick .
Less fancy or sturdy? Well, 52 has pretty lights , but functionally difference is that jstick on 52 moves with less force , and the sensors are Hall Effect magnetic sensors which are superior in durability from the old analog sensors in x45 . SO dont let its pretty face fool you , its well designed and durable.
Either choice is good , basically choice is what type of rudder control u prefer .
There are helpful folks out there , be patient ! But by choosing to be a IL2 user , you choose to be an educated user , so theres an expectation of above average effort to be a talented player. Study the help topics here on this site , and tip sites like Airwarfare to meet the requirements of due diligence that make a cognitive Hyperlobby participant.
always ,

Having owned both sticks/throttles I feel I should
give a negative opinion.
Both the X-45 and X-52 are clumsy and overly complicated.
Both suffer from switches that have no feel and to many lights.
The throttles on both sticks are miserable.
The X-45 rudder control is boderline useless.
On the positive end the "sliders" are very good.
I use a Saitek EVO now and I am very happy with it.
Both the X-45 and X-52 are in a "land fill".
I gave them away and both reciepients hated them.
They wound up in the Alton town dump.

Overly complicated? Clumsy? Onl;y if you have feet for hands . Saitek x45 and x52 are very simple to use and setup. I dont stare at the lights while i fly , so im ok with them .
Some of the very best flyers here use them , and many like myself who have x52 also use CH Pro Pedals along with them .
The EVO is garbage cheap joystick at best , Everyone in my squad who had one thought it was at best a childs joystick and now 90% of us use an X45 , X52 or a classic Microsoft FFB.
Clearly the X52 and 45 are the superior sticks manufactured today rivalled only by CH Products. |
