What Burns My Butt About This Game, IL2 1946:

First: there is no map of southern England and the European mainland. So you can’t make a mission over Occupied France, Belgium, Holland or even Germany itself.

Second: when you are making a map your objects list is not made right. Your objects are not placed for easy access. If I made the objects list I would have put all of the vehicles together, all of the docks and piers together, all of the of bridges together, all of the airport buildings together, all of the bunkers together, and so on. Keep it simple.

Third: I don’t know who made the map of Italy. Go take a close look at the docks and piers. You will notice that who ever made it didn’t take the time to look closely at what he was doing. He just took a object that he thought was a dock and put it there. I will make my Ports and docks Thank You.

Last but not least: I would to be able to fly in a B-24J 100-CF Bomber in the Bottom Ball Turret .

P.S. Put the G.D. Canadians in here will you! Evil or Very Mad

Thank You, Thank You Very Much

The upcoming release of BoB fills the void in the Western European scenery you desire. I think the devs absolutely see the larger picture and are addressing that void clearly with the relase of this new upcoming game.
Regarding ground objects , static meshes etc..... thier image complexity is a drag on the game ...so in the case of IL2 1946 et al , they have chosen very wisely not to over do it , for something that legitimately comes into focus from close range so rarely While they could be better organized , there are very good user created guides to object which make much easier choosing objects to use in your editing.
The RCAF...of course , but remember , this game was designed by eastern europeans, and they rightfully included what had the most meaning for them as far as planes and scenerys etc. Its logical that they chose the campaigns that had the most meaning to them just as Americans , Brits , French etc would have designed western front based sim , as they did with CFS.
Bravo to Oleg and crew , for doing something no one else wanted to , regardless of any debate over modeling.

Nice, Lets see Canada had the 3rd or 4th largest air force in ww2. We also had our own Fighter and Bomber Squaderons over there. The number of Canadians flying in RAF planes was between 1 in 4 and 1 in 5.
"55,000 air men lost thier lives in the skies over Germany, 10, 000 of them were Canadian." Canada's war production was only second to that of the USA. With just a population of 11.5 million people that wasn't bad. Air crews for the most part were trianed in Canada. I guess I could go on and say Canada's navy was the 3rd largest in the world at that time.

Well , true that Canada had a large role from the earliest times in WW2. Thats not the point however. I know if Canadians made a WW2 flight sim , they'd of course have Canadians well represented.
My point was that Il2 wasnt made by Canadians. It was made by eastern europeans .......and suprisingly(lol) they concentrated on portraying eastern europeans.......... Geez what an outlandish idea.......

Seems logical. And they did a damn fine job of representing the eastern european campagns of ww2.

Do you think that if Canadians made a ww2 fligt sim , they would have put in any eastern european maps , spent uber time modeling soviet aircraft ? They wouldnt. Would thay have mentioned the Winter Wars or the War of Continuation? Hardly likely.

So thanks to Oleg and crew from us Westerners who now have a better appreciation for what the east went through. They made a tribute to what they went through in that part of the world , and it has had the benefit of educating the rest of us......

Eries.
