All red ping bars recently

Gents..

About 2 weeks ago I all of a sudden started getting all red ping bars for every game and before this date everything was fine.

I have made no changes in my system or router settings and I called Charter cable and they say they have added no firewalls etc.

Anyone have any idea what may be the cause?

Gents.

After finally finding an intelligent life form at Charter Cable, I found out that they have instituted an ICMP blocker due to all the new viruses being spread through this protocol.

Hence no ping information between my ISP and HyperLobby.

This may be the reason others are having similar problems.

ICMP is part of the Internet and TCPIP. Some less experinced ISP's trying to block this protocol. It not need to block but only limiting/policing . I dont know about viruses that spread through this protocol Laughing

If you could provide more information about how my ISP only needs to limit/police the ICMP rather than block it totally it would be much appreciated.

Maybe by providing this information to them they will change their current policy and I could again see pings/latency in HyperLobby.

Are you sure this is the problem? I also have had all red bars since I installed the new version of HL (I've tried reinstalling in case it was an install problem). It could be DO NOT READ THIS IS SPAM :D that my ISP is also using this blocking but I can get pings in other games such as Forgotten Battles, Operation Flashpoint, America's Army. If it stops pings for HL, shouldn't it also stop pings for games?
