S!

I think it would be good to have multiple host ports or the choice of host port selection. This would facilitate multiple hosts behind NAT and restrictive ISP port setups.

The Ubi launcher I think does allow the host port setup , correct me if I am wrong, (info via the original Dedicated Server ubi server launcher GS_il2ServerLauncher.exe)

Yes you can host many dedicated machines from behind a router.Each with its own port.The problem is that any body wanting to join your server will have to change his network tab port number to join.Clients are set to port 21000 by default but changable.

But you can have a public server on port 21000 and a private server on another port and just let you buddies know the new port number.

Yes that's right. My thoughts are that when joining an IP game you get the choice of port to connect to. This info could be passed via HL. Each machine behind the NAT is set for a different port for hosting - not necessarily for joining.

eg line for hlpro.ini

remotePort=21001

I think we are talking about the same thing.The client has to set his port to match the server port.

So you can have several servers behind a router each with its own port.Then you can tell people the port number for each machine and they can change their network tab to match.

I believe remote host is for remote admin not for joining or hosting.

You only have to forward a port to host .You do not need to forward to play.
