I have a problem that's I've been ripping my hair out for two days trying to solve. A friend and I are trying to play Dangerous Waters using Hyperlobby and we cannot get our two games to connect. On the Hyperlobby screen, he says that the bars next to my name are red. Looking in the manual, that means "poor conection or disabled icmp". He is showing up to me as one bar green. I created a second account on my laptop and logged on with that and he said that both my laptop and my desktop were showing up 5 bars red. From my side, my laptop and my desktop were seeing each other with 5 green bars.

I am running Windows XP and am behind a lynksys 54gs router.

We've been trying to get Dangerous Waters to connect prior without Hyperlobby and have not been able to get it to connect despite up opening the proper ports in our firewalls and routers. Any ideas as to what's going on ?

Also, when I would run the game from Hyperlobby with the laptop and desktop both in the player list, Dangerous Waters would start right up on both automatically, but they would not connect with each other.

Ah you need to forward the ports for it Smile

you need to forward 2300 - 2400 on UDP and TCP

I opened ports 2300-2400 on both UDP and TCP on both my firewall and my router. I have "Accept ICPM" enabled on both my router and my PC. I don't know what else more to do.

The problem appears to be on my end. I got my status to show up as green again and now I'm pingable, but something is blocking all the ports that I have had to manually port forward even when I open my router fully to the internet AND when I turn off my software firewall.
I have the proper ports selected and open in my router and also have the same ports open in my software firewall as well as having given the programs full ingoing and outgoing internet access in the firewall and I'm still having issues. I've conferred with some pretty smart computer people who so far havn't been able to figure it out. It's frustrating. I am now having no problem connecting or chatting with Hyperlobby, but when it comes to playing games, I've been out of luck with the connection.

The odd thing is that I am able to connect between my laptop and my PC here directly through the router to play multiplayer in these games. Anything that I have to connect directly to a PC outside of this router, like my friend's computer two towns over, seems to get blocked. I'm fairly savvy with computers and networking but I'll be damned if I can figure this out.

Try resetting your router/modem (There should be a little hole somewhere on it)
