Request: Separate rooms for "normal" FB and Aces e

The Aces expansion pack for Forgotten Battles (FB) has become so popular it's hard for the regular FB 1.22 players to find servers. Since HL allows for various sub-rooms under each game category, it'd be really handy to have separate rooms for Aces and standard FB. Thanks to Jiri for all the work he's already done to make IL2 and FB a successful online game.

Its only addon. Not a new game. My suggestion is to upgrade in to AEP Wink

Hi Jiri, I'm new on the forum but have availed myself of the gr8 service you have provided to the flight combat community for years. Thank you, you are my hero and HL is king. Very Happy

I must differ with you on this point though. AEP is a new game totally, which happens to have included everything from FB. They are NOT compatible. Many will stay with FB and not buy AEP and HL does not cater for the split communities. All of us are having to keep both FB & AEP on our PC's because of the split.

What will make it worse in future, is that the IL2 phenomenon is going to expand even further, with the release of Battle of Britain and Pacific Fighters in the near future. Both of these, like AEP, will be stand alone games (again probably/possibly including everything from the previous game).

That will leave the IL2 community split into 4 big chunks. HL will be chaotic, it is already overwhelmed by FB & AEP being in the same room, with more servers being off-screen than on. To make it even worse, the host servers are not all clearly stating whether they are hosting FB or AEP and we waste time trying to join a game only to find we spawned the wrong version.

Lobbies like All Seeing Eye and UBI.com have recognised this and created separate rooms and will no doubt do so for the future expansions, but they are not in HL's league and anyway, those silly people at UBI.com, forgot to make the gamepath editable so you cannot choose which one you want to play.

but I'm really, really, really hoping to convince you to reconsider your approach to this wonderful phenomenon we call IL2.

Oh and another suggested improvement:

People like me from distant lands (South Africa) can only reach/join games with a ping less than about 500ms. It would be soooooooooo wonderful if we could re-order the games in the room according to ping, lowest at the top, ascending to all the solid red bars the bottom. The other lobbies have done this, please demonstrate to us that you are better than them and we are right to place our faith in you. Very Happy

Some kind of sorting will be in the next version (hopefully). My current working version have implemented only scrolling of the DOGFIGHT list and hopefully fixed runtime error 340.
