I just installed HL today and after entering my email i immediately received the described error, uninstalled several times , checked my firewall etc still no go. just did a virus check completely clean i havent had errors with this pc for a while
any helps?
cpu: amd athlon 64 x2 4400
ram: crosair 2x 1gig 3200 ddr
harddrive western digital 120 gig
gfx card: 7800gtx
sound card SB x-fi
windows xp sp2
firewall is off , dont have a router either

installed v runtime programm downloaded from this site but no go still
