I'm a returning flight simmer that started way back from CFS and flew IL-2 for quite awhile before taking leave for a while. But since then I have been moved to a linux machine. To my dismay, there is no linux port of HL (Jiri, I don't blame you at all, your work is great and you've got a lot on your hands already!).
I was just wondering if the source code could ever be made available? If it were, I believe it would be much more easily ported by someone in the community to linux (perhaps myself in the future, though I'm not a terribly experienced programmer). This would perhaps allow a few more users, epecially since il-2 runs very well already under wine (which HL doesn't unfortunately :-\).
I also believe doing so would give programming types in the community a chance to spot possible issues and bugs and such for suggestions to Jiri.
If there are special reasons for not releasing the source code (advertisement agreement with trackIR?) then forget I asked...I just figured it wouldn't hurt I realize releasing the source could lead to "no ad" versions being distributed (which is unfortunate for HL's upkeep).
Just an idea, you can probably tell I'm of the "Open Source" mindset. lol
