S!,
I tried to run my old version of HL, 3.9.1.1 or something like that. Anyhow, I was told that this is no longer supported. I then downloaded the latest version, 4.1.2. Now, I'm getting a runtime error 52. Wrong file or wrong name....or something like that. Any solutions?

BTW, I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks,
HB

I have been running 4.1.2 for a while.(autoupdated).Today I tried to login and get a runtime 52 error."Bad file name or number".

I am using W2k.

Update:
I think I figured it out.The drive(storage drive) my IL2 1946 is on has developed file system errors and can not be read at the moment.

Update 5/14/10:
After recovering all the data I could I reformatted my drive.I cleaned out the registry of all the old IL2 1946 entries that were no longer valid because the original drive went bad.I had to also clear out the old IL2 1946 Microsoft installer.I then reinstalled the stock IL2 1946(4.07).HL work fine now, just like it always has.

Hi Jiri,
The first step I did after hearing that a new version was available was to unistall the old 3.xxx version. I then downloaded the latest version, 4.1.2. I double clicked the .mis file and let HL install the application in the appropriate area.

The problem occurs when I double click the HL icon. Note: I've tried setting the HL.exe to run as admin. I've also tried running it in several compatible versions. I still have trouble getting HL to run. Unfortunately, HL doesn't make it to the log-in screen. I automatically get the run time error 52. I'm attaching a couple of screen shots for you to see.

Sincerely,
HB

Hello

The installer do not finish his work. Its bad and indicate something is wrong at your side.

Msi installer error 2203 indicating problems with temporary folder permission. You may try google "Windows Installer internal error code 2203" to get solutions.

Run time error 52 popup propably because HL was not successfully installed.

You may also try download and run this non zipped instalation package:
http://hyperfighter.sk/update/hyperlobby-4.1.2.msi

I am having the exact same problem with a run-time error 52 the moment when I start the program.

My system:
Win7 OS
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.80GHz, 2800 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB

I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times, even rebooting my computer after installing.. I have used the un zipped http://hyperfighter.sk/update/hyperlobby-4.1.2.msi that was posted. I have used the repair function. Still the moment I click on the HL icon, I get the error just as the image Troll2K posted.

The only solution I have found by one person who had the same thing was he had no problems installing and running HL after having reinstalled Win7.

I will made full revision of this problem, it may be something with autoconnect feature and not choosen game installation path.

You may try delete this registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\HyperLOBBY
this will reset autoconnect feature, and will clear login informations.

I can now get to the log in screen, and it seems to work for all the games except the one I actually have installed on my computer which is IL2. For IL2 I get the run-time error '52' again.

Thought maybe it was not looking in the right area, so tried to redirect HL. But can't. I get a message to click to get the menu (see image attachment) but when I click on it, absolutely nothing happens

This made it more sense. The patch i posted targeted startup issues so i will look at the IL2 file handling section. Have you tried force HL to search the game again ?:
http://hyperfighter.sk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7679
or
http://hyperfighter.sk/content-8.html
Section 7

That tooltip is a remain Smile The menu is "CONNECT/SELECT GAME".

I had reinstalled IL2 without patching before seeing your reply. Have patched the new install of IL2 to 4.09m

Did not work. So un-installed HL 4.1.2 and re-installed it. I can get to the login scree, but can not login to IL2. I DO NOT get the pop up to find the game, I get run-time error '52' and HL crashes when I click OK or does nothing if I don't.

Here is a video of what happens:

Hi

After you open HL right click on the connect button and search for the Il2fb.exe

I found posible cause. As trol2k mentioned it happen when accessing inacccesible disk device like non inserted cdrom drive, damaged volume etc. The game path has been detected by HL incorrectly and function checking this path return this strange error. I need rewrite this function to handle this cause correctly. Tomorrow i will upload testing version 4.1.6 than will deal with this problem ...
