S~ Jiri,

Much appreciated all you have done for the IL2 community, Thanks!

With the new current version 4.2.7 and maybe others also, (did not take good notes, sorry) but after about 14 days HL will close and my game server is not listed anymore. It is on a remote VPS (Virtual Private Server) and I find no error messages. Checked the event log, nothing. Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition with Service Pack 2.

Once I start HL it runs constantly for those 14 day, I will recycle the "il2server.exe" 2 times a week but not HL. As I will just reload the game. I just started keeping a log of days HL runs and closes so can not help out more right now. Will post back here when I have more info.

Server is listed in HL as: Air__Racing

Update, Jiri,

Found Hyperlobby had closed again and that was on Aug 11. As stated, I can not find any error messages or any meaning as to why it closed. Everything else on the server was still running:

The game IL2fb.exe, TS2, TS3 and SC (server commander). Let me know what you need me to do to help you get to the bottom of this trouble. Versions before these last series of updates did not have this trouble.

HL do not have any fetaure like this. It should run forever. The only solution is to made HL automatically start server session from commandline ...

This feature was under development few years ago but for some glitches i reverted it. Now i have more clean idea how to implement it correctly. Then will be posible run HL as windows service via srvany or other method and restart it when something fail.

Currently iam a bit busy from RL so implementation will wait ...

Jiri, I understand that and that was correct with the older versions of HL but since you started this update series HL closes on me without warning and when it does my server is not seen on HL anymore. This has nothing to do with reboot of the computer and a restart. As stated all other programs were still running. I have run HL over 90 days with the older version but can not do it now.

Understand fully about RL and do take care of that first.

All your work and services here are greatly appreciated!

I had a similar occurrence and still do from time to time when my ISP decides to clears its DNS's around 01:00 - 02:00 for a few minutes.

HL seems not to be able to "sniff" for reconnection like it used to do, maybe I'm wrong but it used to reconnect after a short disconnection from ISP.

Ill try to reproduce this problem and i will increase TTL of hyperfighter.sk domain. Its too short ATM.

This attached version of HL fixing few issues with new network API whish can lead in to unexpedted failure during game session:

Code:
Changes in 4.2.8 (release)
------------------------
Bug fixes:
- When DNS service fail HL will hung during reconnect session.
- Under poor network connection condition or HL server outage HL can leak socket handles during reconnect session.
- When user game end HL may fail reconnect back to HL server.

Please test it and report back if it help fix reported issues ...

EDIT: Since 4.2.11 release is out download link has been removed.

Jiri,

It did not fix my problem as HL closed sometime between Saturday 6pm and Sunday 10pm EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).

I installed HL 4.2.8 on my server Tuesday Aug 17th and it ran until I found it had closed Sunday Aug 29th evening.

This has been implemented in 4.2.9:

http://hyperfighter.sk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7778

So you may create script than will start HL in unattended dedicated server mode. This will proof if HL really stuck in your case or if its there another problem. Also you may script HL and game restart everytime you like.

Hi Jiri,

I am sorry to say that I dont have the slightest idea how that will help in my case.

Yes, I know that would be helpful when the server is rebooted.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated!

I do not know if this is related but I will pass it along anyway.

I run 2 dedicated servers from one machine.(on my lan)Every now and then one of them shuts down.(not always the same one)It disappears from the HL "games in progress" list on the left and also the "host" list on the bottom right.

One server is running the straight dedicated server and the other is running the dedicated server using IL2 Server Commander.

I am running W2k on the server machine.

I have to tunnel into that machine and restart the server.

It may be that I am running an unsupported configuration.

Edit: I am running version 4.2.7 of HyperLobby.
