This is a request to both Jiri and ED not only Jiri. His hardwork is valuable and must be evaluated fairly. |

I have checked if is posible add FC2 in to HL but it is not posible at this time. Iam missing some important features to do. Its exactly:
1./ I have managed to run the game in to client gui via --net client commandline but its not all. HL need run the game in to client mode and pass there server ip, user callsign from HL and automatically connect, like on old lomac lobby
2./ Running gui in to server mode is OK but also there i need to pass user callsign from HL, like in lomac
I have found than part of FC2 is scripted in LUA, but those scrips do only minor background job for multiplayer and do not allow override internal variables. Game exe have some other commandline options to pass lua strings (for example force an internal variables etc). There iam missing because nothing is documented and those operations cannot be scripted by me.
Here coming request for Eagle Dynamic do something with it, so provide me required details or we can cooperate to made those features for next patch.
i posted the same message in to ED forum:

Unless you have it already, I can show you how to download the server list,
as ED has provided me the information. I have sample Cpp code on how
it can be done which I can share with you.
I am pretty sure you can pass some command line arguments to auto-connect
to a server, as there IS a command line argument to start a server. I could
ask the developers for you.
Given the nature of Fc2, what I would most like to see is a server browser
which has built in mod management. Some servers will undoubtedly want to
run some custom mods, and to ensure everyone is on the same page it would
me good if the server browser gave you a question "do you want to auto-
install X mods to join this server?". This can then be coupled with a file
integrity check.
This could for example be passed in the server description field as some line, like
/includeFiles "config/export/", and the server would then send the contents
to the client before the client's game starts.
What do you say? |

For begin we need only features i listed.
HL will show only servers hosted via HL, so ATM we do not need this tool. Support for mods can be done done by third party via HLGEXA.
If you have contact to developers regarding features we need, feel free to contact em, i posted request also at ED forum.
If the FC2 community grow over HL we can talk about any super advanced options |

If you are not going to list the servers from the ingame list then I think you risk splitting the community quite significantly, not sure if people want this.
I think you and I are pulling in different directions atm. |

HL direction is the same for about 10 years ...
HL do not support yet listeng servers from unknown sources, and propably will not support this.
Its job for xfire or any other so called game browsers. HL protecting users by our TOS and it cannot be done by this feature
Believe me, its better to ditch a game support than meet this ambigious requirements... |

Then we agree to disagree. I find this to be an essential feature. If you cannot
see the servers listed in the game, then creating a new server list in HL will be
very confusing to new players. We end up with 2 separate server lists.
The only situation when ingame server list should not be displayed is when
there is none imo.
Getting the list is really simple. |
