How do I create a second installation so I can use multiple game versions on HL without manually entering a different path each time?

Copy and Paste in installation to a new location and rename it to something different. It's best to keep a stock install where you originally installed the game, and if you decide to mod, to mod the copy.
An easy way of pointing Hyperlobby to multiple installs can be done in Settings. For example:
[IL-2 Sturmovik 1946]
joinDelay=20
clientRate=8000
;Determine the client source port. Useful when is more that one user behind the NAT router.
;Must be diferent for each user behind the same NAT router
localPort=21000
;This detecting right IP address for systems with more that one network adapters
;Default is 1 (on)
DetectLocalIP = 1
;Set to 1 when both server and client are behind a router
using
;private network address and both are behind one public ip address
loopback=0
;When is loopoback set to 1
here must be specified private ip address
; of the server behind a router
loopbackip=
Difficulty=2
serverPort=21000
MaxPlayers=8
Description=
gamepath=D:\Forgotten Battles 8.30.29
;gamepath=E:\1946stock
;gamepath=D:\1946up
;gamepath=G:\1946hsfx
All you need do is go into settings before going on a mission and rem out the versions you aren't playing, and enable the one you are. The ; in front of the command line is what rems out that line. Save when you exit. Hyperlobby will automatically reboot itself and you are good to go with the other install. Only takes a second to do this.

Yeah a 2nd install just doesn't work. I copied the first and renamed it put it in a different local but it always defaults back to what I ran on either install last.
I can just re enter a new path on the log in every time I need to change the game version, but I was hoping to just have two different Hyperlobby installs so I could do it more easily.
That just apparently won't work

Create a hl folder(with a different name) for each instance you want to have.
Then create a shortcut for each exe on your desktop.
Right click on each short cut and go to properties.
In the 'target' line add -i and a number to the end of the line and then save.
Edit:Changed the -1 to -i for the target line.
For example for three instances you would have
Short cut 1:"c:\program files\Hyperlobby client 1\hyperlobby.exe" -i 1
Short cut 2:"c:\program files\Hyperlobby client 2\hyperlobby.exe" -i 2
Short cut 3:"c:\program files\Hyperlobby client 3\hyperlobby.exe" -i 3

Thanks, I'll try that. Is it -1 as detailed in your reply or -i as shown in your example?
