I have just bought Lock On and realised that my computer needs a bit more RAM to get it flying! Do you know if I can mix, for example, a 266mhz RAM with a 400mhz RAM?
Also, is there one manufacturer who produce a faster RAM chip than the rest?
Help much appreciated. Can't wait to get up in the air.
See you around

if its the same kind, then yes (SDRAM with SDRAM, DDRAM withDDRAM etc...)
but it would take the 266Mhz speed, not the 400Mhz

it would be alot better for u to put in the same 266mhz.
if your cpu is running at 266 also... and you put in the same memory ,you "should" see a difference in performance ..
you should check your motherboard manual to see if your mobo supports diffrent size memory.

Do you know if I can mix, for example, a 266mhz RAM with a 400mhz RAM? >>>>>>>If I understand correctly you are wishing to get higher performance ? Or maybe asking if you can use older Ram on a newer boaed? RAM is reverse compatible ...and not a huge difference between say pc2100 and pc2700..
escalating CPU and motherboard bus speeds outstripped the ability of FPM DRAM to deliver data quikly...hence DDR ram was born. DDR utilizes the rising and falling edge (double data rate) If your looking for the best ram (in my opinion) its..(overclocked ram) I am running an AMD64 bit FX CPU.....with 1024 Corsair Just my opinion ...heres a link for info http://www.slcentral.com/ddr-ram-comparision-corsair-ddr400-transcend-ddr500/ USN_Homicide

its ok, your pc will not die, currently i have pc2700 and pc2100 ram but the ram runs at lower pc2100 speed but its still good.
