~S~
I tried the new HL ver 3.7 and immediatley was unable to connect. I recieved socket error 11004 - message and checked the FAQ's and past posts.

I uninstalled all versions of HL - extracted and ran the executables - updated Vb files and checked my firewall settings.

I even called my ISP and checked with them - no problems on their end.

I presently went back to Version 3.6.68, so I can fly in forgotten battles, Any info for a solution would be appreciated !

Rolling Eyes Thanks

Same here, without firewall

I launched my firewall and then, it was enough to "allow" the software to connect

I think there's something in winXP SP2 that blocks connections even when the firewall is not activated... activate windows firewall and allow the application to connect and there you go.. after that, even without firewall it will work (don't ask me for logic behind it... Wink )

rather SP2 for windows. I had same problems with new mozilla version, new eudora version, basically, any software that connects to internet couldn't connect before explicitely allowed in firewall settings. Things were blocked even with firewall deactivated...[/url]

Finally figured out problem with socket error 11004 !

I went through my entire system looking for HL Pro files or refrences and found an entry in Zone alarm (which I was not using). After deleting this entry for previous version of HL Pro, I then reinstalled HL 3.7 and reset setting in Zone alarm just to make sure it was configured for HL. BINGO it worked.

Thanks to those that, gave feedback and suggestions. Hope this helps.

I had the connection problem this week after up-grading win98 to xp sp2. I had zone-alarm installed in win98, but I thought it was removed after the upgrade, since it was not showing up in the systray. After reading the message board, I found the zone alarm folder and ran the un-install. Now I can do three things in this order
1. Connect to Hyper lobby
2. Click on the Hyperfighter URL in Hyper lobby to open a internet Explorer window and load the message board.
3. Activate my new XP install.

Thanks guys.
