Dear pilots, tech-gurus and whoever who can overcome XP config is welcomed.
IL2 Sturmovik (patched till 1.2)
and
IL2FB (patched till 1.22)
ceased to be running
after upgrade hardware
CPU P4 H.T. @3.400 MHz
RAM 512 MB DDR-2 @ 566 MHz
GPU Sapphire ATI RADEON X600-XT, 128MB VRAM
@PCI-Extreme x 16
housed on
ASUS P5AD2 DeLuxe
and having moved to Win/XP + SP2 + DirectX 9.c,
there is a heap of troubles. OpenGL mode of games is self-rejected after just giving a try, DirectX modes were not even painting the intro and screen canvas...
Did you see any rule-of-thumb configuration, that works and is fly-able?

i run xp and have no trubble mayby your problem is elswhere i play il2 every day on xp try dirext x instead of glide or mayby upgrade your vidio settings? |

Hi,
thank you for your optimism.
DirectX 9c even do not start,
so I have some time to solve the glitches.
I shall let you know what was the causal-point.
After "warm" welcome from ATI Sapphire Tech. Support
I am almost ready to go back and down-grade to some older-and-proven RADEON GPU
THX once more
and have good thrust and clear 6.

Hi Shloppy,
you gave me just a nice try to join your IL/2 server, THX.
The new XP PC has other troubles.
Sapphire has not get (yet) the ATI certification for the X600-XT, waiting for some help maybe even from the god highness would be faster than from Sapphire Tech.Support.....
Microsoft can not by design run fullscreen Direct3D faster than 60 Hz (...)
DxDiag test make XP crash too.
(OpenGL visualisation software crashes at all)
So I opened today my worn-out notebook and started HyperLobby to have some IL/2 flight. (first attemtp I hit the new <Pacific> remakes), than I failed to reload the IL/2 from local CD. Windows just offered me to format an unformatted disk. Pitty.

i wasent done trying to help you m8t!
you left to soon my pc is like yours but diferent vidio card you canmake your pc play thise game dont give up but i think your proublem is your vidio ! as fare as the cd drive messing up there is a cd crack for the game i dont use my cd rom! |

Finally, the Sapphire X600-XT was the point to be blamed.
Replaced PCIx Card (RMA) + reinstall all XP-Drivers once again W...O...R...K...S...
btw. the OpenGL is indeed ...g...r...e...a...t...&...s...m...a...r...t...
[yes, simply now it's worth the bucks paid for the PCIx GPU]
