I bought a copy of the game off Ebay and cannot install the damn thing. The game is a Thailand release (the only ones they sell on ebay) and will not install. I get a window asking which language to use, I click on English and then nothing happens. I waited 15 minutes one time just to see what would happen and still nothing. I have even tried to install from My Computer with no luck. I have Vista so I thought it might be the problem, but when I tried to install on my wife's computer (windows XP) nothing happens at all. Not even a language window. Can anyone help or am I just S.O.L.? Any help would be greatly 'preciated.

Your dvd player may not want to read the disc, I found some of my dvd drives (on my 2 computers) do not like the 1946 DVD. I have no clue why. I was told of a trick you can do to get it jump started, and it worked for me. Just pop in another CDRom or DVD to get the drive going, pop that cd or dvd out, then drop the 1946 DVD in. I hope that helps you too..
Good Luck..
(I was pretty pissed when this happened to me, as I wa slucky enough to have internal and external CD and DVD drivers, had I not had any more, the Jump Start option would have been my only hope for a brand new 1946 DVD!!! and it worked!!!)

Maybe, you should use the command runas Admin in Vista !!
I have vista, but I got another pb. HL does not locate the exe IL2.exe, although it really exists in the right directory.
Any idea ? |

Greywolf, try this.... copy the contents of the DVD disc to a folder on your hard drive.... then install the game from there.
jippy, run HL .... right/click the "connect" button.... click the "search" button.... select the path to your il2fb.exe (you might get more than one result so make sure you choose the correct one).... hit "save". |

I have run as admin and also made a folder with the I.L.2 info before. With no luck I might add. It seems that I may just have bad discs. Damn. I really like this game too. |

Greywolf... when Lange says 'install the game from your HD folder'.... after you've copied the contents of the disk, you should remove the dvd from your rom dive. Then Run the "setup.exe" (that should be in the HD folder) to install the game. It will then use the copied data from the folder. Is this what you did?
Also I believe this game doesn't like some dvd re-writers. Maybe you should try a basic dvd-rom. |

Spray, that is exactly what I did. It didn't help. But thats ok, I found a copy on Amazon and bought it there. I hope like hell that this one isn't from Thailand too. LOL! Should be here in a few days hopefully.
I, too, heard that the game doesn't DVD/RW's. I hope that I can get around that considering that is the only thing I have in my 'puter. I really need to put a DVD Rom into my machine.
I want to thank everyone for all your ideas and support. Greywolf |

Well at least basic dvd drives are real cheap now, so not a big problem if you have to get one.
Anyway let us know how you get on, good luck mate.

Well, UPS dropped off my new copy of the game yesterday evening. I immediately tried to install it, AND IT WORKED!! No problems what so ever. This is using the DVD/RW also. So I am up and flying.
Anyone want to buy a copy of IL 2 1946? Hahahahaha! |
