Yep, it's been well over a year since I played online. Went to play last week and found out my software needs adding to. So I went out and bought AEP and PF. Loaded them up and noticed PF states a "broadband" connection is needed! Shocked I have dial up. I'm having a friend download the patches but I concerned whether or not I can participate online. Is it possible with a 56K modem?

Thanks!

I think you will need broadband only if you host. There are still players in the lobby(fb+aep+pf room) on 56k.

In order to be this posible, i recomended you modify the connection speed for IL2. In the hlpro.ini section [Forgotten Battles] change value
clientRate=8000
to something betwen 4000 - 8000. Try what is the best for your connection.

Well, by definition of connection....You can play multiplayer on any connection.

The real issue is lag. 56k will require that you set your graphic setting .etc pretty low.

I'm pretty sure you can run it though, considering one of the network connection speeds is 28.8k

with a 56k modem you should be able to connect but actually playing is a different story. It would probably be so laggy that you really wouldn't be able to play. You could always give it a try though.

Hallo,

well for me it works great. Flying online with my dial-up 56k Modem for a year or so now, and only a few times someone chatting that i am lagging the game. My PING is always around 250-300, so i works great for me.
I have no lagging or other problems.
But i have to mention my PC-Specs here:

AMD 3500+
1 G Ram
Geforce A7600GS

So i think you should give it a try.

Have a nice day,
Aleinikov

Mate im on dialup avg connection speed of 49.2 kbs and havnt had a problem have noticed that the loacl hosts ie servers in australia as i am have the lowest ping for the obvious reason that there is distance (servers to be directed through) to travel.

give it a go mate if you do have high ping trouble try lowering your graphics settings as this can improve ping and i mean drastically adjust ie drop to 800x600 etc then work your way up....

hoe this helps buddy let us all know how it goes

cheers

Nudge (Australia)
