Why is it illegal?
It may be un sportsman like, perhaps a cheat.
But illegal?

=JFC= do NOT promote any form of mod thank you very much. as far as i know, at least half the community use the so called "illegal" mod, so why single out =JFC=. all they do is "defend " the modders. from what i have seen, the ones that need banning are the ones who CONSTANTLY choke the forums and chat with this drivel about mods.

Does the phrase "copyright infringement" sound familiar?

Having a large number of people engaged in supporting an illegal activity doesn't make it legal.

That could be cured if/when UBI and 1C declare some sort of support for the modding community, which -in my opinion- is the best course of action to legitimize what is being done.

I don't expect that to happen however.

That leaves us with an "underground" community developing content for the game the developers themselves don't have time/money/inclination to do. Which is a shame...

And here's where I get all conflicted over this. I really like *some* of the stuff that's being made, illicitly or not, to enhance the IL-2 series further. I peek in on the goings on, just to keep myself up to speed with the latest offerings. I've even tried a couple of the mods myself, so I'm in the same boat as all those others doing things illegally. Doesn't make it right, but I can see both sides to this prickly issue.

Your definition failed the test.
If all involved have purchased the game then the mods are very legal
unless they sell them.
If given away at no charge then it's legal provided the mod
is not distributed with a complete game.

I do not use mods only because I chose not to.

What the modders are doing is a violation of the end user's agreement... and illegal. Whether it's for profit or not.

pray tell, why would Jiri give half a s*** about what Oleg approves or not?
do you think there is some mystical, legally binding attachment between them?
did you know HL was started by Jiri, exclusively for "Janes WWII Fighters", back in 2000, to replace JCN that had its support dropped?

if mods really shake your world up that much, you'd best be taking up chess or something Rolling Eyes

As far as it goes, I may have to back-peddle a bit. I can't find an IL-2 end-user agreement to look over. Confused

~~

Oh, nice civil reply there Daiichidoku. Rolling Eyes

It's still a hack or mod.

Would you guys want to play with someone online who's running the same game as you or running a modified version??

I arrest my case.

Anyhow the useless mods/hacks will be toast when 4.09 comes out Rolling Eyes

Icewolf i checked with these JFC people and they dont promote the mod at all they just tolerate the use of it. The server that does openly allow and promote the sound mod is the AAA server which is the organization that creates all the sound mods and other mods. Also in the JFC server i was not able to find any indications which might indicate the use of mods.

My question is how did you find out these people use and promote the mods Because i would like to have a word with them.

Frenchie just to give you some insight in what you call "Hacks" this is what the Al Aircraft Arcade gentleman say about their modding of the game and their motive for even doing it. this is a quote from the Lead modder calle Mrjolly. :

hiya,
we recently have evidence of certain members sending pm's to other users of mods containing cheats - we will ban & remove these users !

please do not use this forum to exchange obviously cheating mods - such as mods that change FM of aircraft or mods which change weapons on aircraft.

you may ask 'but you make mods'
we only want to expand this game here we do not want the online game ruined by fantasy mods & do not encourage it here - its a difficult situation but we must try to do the right thing & then hope that others see why we are doing it this way.

LOCKED!
