So i assume that u have tried right click->Run as Administrator and have tried re-installing BUT have you tried http://www.ccleaner.com/download (A program that completely removes every trace of a program, it also has other things)then re-installing it? If that doesn't work then http://rapidshare.com/files/128315049/HL_BACKUP.RAR.html and extract that to your desktop or flash-drive and run the hlpro.exe in admin and also try regular user if that doesn't work post again and ill think of other things that might work

P.S. I don't care about that username so you can use it if you want.

I gave up on Vista--I have another computer with XP on it--HL loaded just fine on it--but it can't find the Sturmovik folder. In this case can I copy it to my "C" drive? Will HL be able to find it there? If I can't get it done I will just take the computer to The Geek Squad up at Best Buy--if they can't do it then no one can.

Just Paste your il2 path into that box and it should be good

I.E. C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

Ok, fresh install of Vista32 on a Athalon AM2 4800X2 machine.
Same error as you got . Same solution as Conolev and I have described.
No problems, runs great.

Scratching my head..........

I installed Vista 32 bit Ultimate.

At the risk of sounding redundant I am trying to remove all traces of the previous HL correct? Then reinstall? How does this program accomplish this? Does it just take over when I uninstall something?
