Okay, here's the deal:

I've owned IL-2, IL-2 Forgotten Battles w/ AEP, and now IL-2 1946. I desperately want to play this online. I PINE to play it online. But no matter what I do, IL-2 gives me the ol' "Connection failed, TIMEOUT" problem.

I connect through a Netgear RP614v2 router using ADSL. There are 2 computers on the router.

I have:

a) port forwarded 21000 and 1698 in both router util and windows

b) port triggered 21000 and 1698 in both router util and windows

c) run the machine as DMZ

d) disconnected the router entirely and connected directly through the adsl modem

e) disabled all firewall options in router AND windows

f) any combination of the above

I'm almost at the point where I want to buy a new router JUST to see if I can get IL-2 to work, but seeing as I timed out with the router entirely out of the picture I can't see how that would help.

This is my last hope, that someone will be able to solve this for me. I can't think of anything else I can do that would make this work short of finding someone who has a working setup and then killing them and taking over their machine.

Is there ANYthing I can do to get this to work?

Some system specs to help:

Pentium Core 2 Duo 1.67gHz
eVGA GeForce 8800GTX
eVGA 680i SLI nForce Motherboard
Bell Sympatico ADSL High Speed Internet
Windows XP Home SP2
Norton Anti-Virus Corporate client
Netgear Router RP614v2 w/ firmware 5.20
Efficient Networks Speedstream 5200 adsl modem

I also have two computers behind a router. Mine is Linksys. My Hyperlobby has worked for about 7 years now, but about a month ago it stopped. Instead, I started receiving the following error message:

Quote:
Error Socket: 10061 Connection is forcefully rejected
___________________________

HyperLobby server is temporary unavailable. Please wait few minutes and try reconnect again.
___________________________

I have tried everything that you described and a few additional items such as:

Opened ports 110, 43
Contacted ISP to find out if they were not blocking access
Uninstalled/reinstalled HyperLobby
Uninstalled firewall
Deleted HyperLobby account
Cleaned registry

In my case though, I cannot even connect to this website, unless I use a proxi server which would hide my IP address. Rest of the Internet works.

Let me know if you find a solution to your problem

I have no issues connecting to and using Hyperlobby, it's just the final step of connecting to the games that is my problem. It's possible that maybe there's a connection down between your ISP and the Hyperlobby servers, though down for a month is a long time.

got almost the same problem.

i can use hyperlobby to join servers.
what i want is to fly coop with just a buddy of mine.

that i can't seem to work out.
i can't connect to him and he can't connect to me.

installed il 46 on the laptop for testing.
that works as long as i use the internal ip adres.
then i can connect .

when i try to do the same thing with the external ip it doesn't work ?

opened and forwarded up port 2100 to the desktop
opened and forwarded ip port 2200 to the laptop.

using ip 192.xxx.x.xx:21000 i can get it to work.

using ip 86.90.xxx.xx:21000 i can't get it to work ?

anybody got any bright ideas ?

I have tried from home to reach this web site and cannot, I have asked my neighbors who are also on adelphia (RR) they also cannot. I brought a laptop that I could not get to this web site at my house to a friends house who has Verizon DSL and am able to reach the site. I believe this sight and hyperlobby may be on a blocked list depending on your ISP, does any one know the sight address of hyperlobby? If I can get both I will call my ISP and tell them what I have.

Or vice versa. Maybe your IP is on the blocked list of HyperLobby. I have checked with my ISP and they are adamant that they do not block the website.

Try this - from the computer which you cannot connect to this website, try to use a public proxi server and see if you can connect. If you can (and I suspect that you will be able to), it means that your IP address is the cause for the inability to connect.

Best,
Lang

How do I use a public proxi server, I would give this a try? Also if it was just my computer I would agree there is something wrong, but it is also my neighbors. Any neighbor I ask to try it can't connect. Another friend who lives in another town also get the same results.

Just Google Public Proxi Server and you will get many sites where you can go. Chances are that all your neighbors are on the same ISP. Each ISP uses a range of IP addresses for a particular region. Let's say that your region's IP addresses vary in the range 68.192.1-9.1-999. If the server has blocked all addresses which start with 68.192, nobody coming out of that region will ever be able to connect.

This thread has kind of been hijacked. Please could suggestions be regarding the timeout issue. If there's connect issues to the website and to hyperlobby itself, please start a new thread.

It may be relevant though, I was getting the timeouts when I tried to connect. After determining it wasn’t my setup especially after I was able to connect before. I contacted my ISP and informed them, they told me since the cut from Adelphia to Road Runner there have been problems connecting to this sight and hyperlobby. I requested they escalate the trouble and though and behold this morning I can connect to the sight and hyperlobby. So it may not just be your set up it could be your ISP especially if your setup worked up to a certain point.

I have no problems with Hyperlobby though. I connect to it fine. I see games. I can try to join them. It's only when I'm inside IL-2 and it's connecting directly to the server that I timeout.

Yup, Warner Cable (formerly Adelphia) on Road Runner. I can reach HL fine, see missions, see players . . . but can't host.

I can click, say, coop mission and my name appears I load it, and it appears in mission list. But when someone tries to jpoin the get timeout.

Yes, my firewall(s), router, and wifi base all have 21000 enabled.
