I can connect both computers individually to HL and each computer can host an IL2 dogfight (DF) game. When my other computer tries to join the same DF game it gets a timeout.
When I try to connect with my daughter from across town (different internet ISPs) via HL in COOP (CO) game with me hosting. We both see each other as 4 reds in the lobby and when trying to connect for a game the connection times out. Both ISP have high speed connections.
Help.

All that help is excellent I'm sure, however, I'm not smart enough to utilize it. Is it safe to say that under normal conditions having two computers from the same home network can't connect to HL and play in the same game at the same time? However, if I'm willing and able to use the information above I would be able to connect my two computers to HL and play in the same game at the same time...

Correct
Open Hyperlobby and click on Edit settings,
Make sure you navigate to [IL21946] section n there
set loopback=1 on the client PC
Then enter the servers local ip
loopbackip=192.169.x.x
Restart Hyperlobby.
If you want someone else to join your server in the Hyperlobby not behind the router you will have to forward the port 21000 UDP in your router for the server and change your client port in Hyperlobby to 21001,
this will stop anyone accidentally joining the wrong IL2 1946 version running behind the router it will direct them to the server PC on port 21000
and not your PC as they will receive a time out if the ports not changed attempting to join the wrong PC.
You might need to experiment to see what set up suits your needs

OK... I think I made some headway with that answer... Lets see if I understand.
I have two computers on my home network. Each PC has a copy of HL installed. The computer that hosts the game (server) must have serverPort=21000 and loopback=1 set. The computer that joins me in the game using HL (client) must have serverPort=21001 set to prevent a third party, joining our game from outside my home network, from getting a timeout caused by it not knowing which computer is the game host.
If its just my two computers do I need to change anything on the server or client computer?
I assume I would need to change the serverPort back to 21000 on the client computer if I wanted to play host with that computer.
How does having loopback=1 on my client computer effect my ability to connect to HL?

Please read all the above post again as only the client pc has loop back set to =1
and the server ip in loopbackip=
The loopback feature allows your router to connect to the server ip behind the NAT
I know it looks complicated but its simple once you have gone through the process
To allow connection to the server "across town" you need to open port 21000 udp in your router to the server ip.
Clients don't need to open ports to join.

I think I've got it:
1. Server Computer... Open Port 21000
Loopback=0
Loopbackip=
2. Client Computer... Open Port 21001
Lookback=1
Loopbackip=Servers IP address inside network
I tested the local network arrangement - Its good
I still need a test of the wide area arrangement - Daughter busy

It didn't work with my daughter... It seems clear that it's not my computer or setup. What could prevent my daughter from connecting to a game. She tried three other games and got the same results... a timeout. She is able to join HyperLobby but is unable to join a game either from start or during the game.

Make sure her game version is exactly the same as the servers version.
Also if she has Hamachi installed it can block connection.
Has she a home isp or University or block building isp ?
Some Block building or Uni isp server block all traffic except Ports 80/8080 |

I believe her game version is correct... I installed it. I'll have her check the other items you mentioned.
