I went to another machine and logged in.I saw my game on the left and in red.(password protected). All as I expected.
I then quit and started a dedicated server.I checked the dedicated server box and the password protect box in the HL window.
I started the battle.Again I went to my other machine. The dedicated server did show in the left hand column.Clicking on the server it said it was dedicated and password protected. However it (the text)was in green, not red.Should it not be red?
If I start a server using the desktop shortcut(not using HL)I can add the -server -pwd [password] parameters to the end of the launcher.exe line in the properties. However if I try and add parameters to the path that HL uses to find the game it does not recognize any parameters. It gives me an error.(no such file or something like that).Without any parameters it works fine.
If I launch a dedicated server from an open slot in the mission room and check the dedicated server box and the password box it launches the dos box dedicated server.I can load the mission and start the battle. But I did not see any password commands(or syntax) in the help menu.(a list of commands). So how can you password protect an HL launched dedicated server?
I have not figured out how to run the dedicated server and play on the same machine yet.So I could not verify the password protection.
On a side note the only way I have been able to get the dedicated server mission to load was to put in the complete long path to the dogfight folder in the 1c Softclub directory. Is there a way to put the mission files in a folder in the root of c drive to make typing in the path easier? |
Password support for dedicated server is unfinished part of HL ... |

Version 1.03.15527 is a beta and must be d/led and installed manually. When it is fully tested it will become official and then auto updated by Steam.
In the mean time you can d/l it from the 1C forum. |

I tried to host a dedicated server and play on the same machine without any luck.
I created a second instance of HyperLobby and created a server name.I logged in and started a dedicated server. It appeared to work as it showed on both the left and right columns.
I then started my normal HyperLobby and logged in using my normal nick.I could see the server on the left.I clicked"join game".It started to work and got to the client connection screen but never connected.
I do not know if this is a bug,a settings on my part error or something that can not be done.
I have port 27016 forwarded to the machine.Maybe an IP problem since the server and game are on the same machine.
Update:
I started a dedicated server using Steam -server -pwd {password} command added to the launcher properties.Since I got the OK message and a couple of messages as to what is happening in the server I assume it is running ok.
I the started a Clod game normally and went to the multiplayer>client screen. My server was not showing. After about 10 minutes I switched the source to lan and my HyperLobby server showed up even though it has not been running for days.
I then switched back to internet as the source and the HyperLobby server was showing even though it was not running nor has been been for a couple of days.
Is there a way to remove these from the Steam client and lan list?
I can connect to other servers in the client list. |

How many steam accounts do you have ?
You need 2 different accounts
I tried this with the Russian and English version but ran into conflicts.
1. Host
2. Client |

I got some info from a reply to a post on the 1C forum that allowed me to run the dedicated server AND play from the same machine through Steam with just the one account.
I suspect it is really like a one machine lan.I do not think I am joining through the web.
I have not tried running HyperLobby yet with this new info. |

After adjusting some settings in the Clod section of the HyperLobby.ini I was able to run a dedicated server AND play from the same machine.
Woohoo.
I am not sure if I am joining through the internet(going out and coming back in) or through my machines loopback.(one of the settings I adjusted) |

Hi,
i dont speak inglish, then i´ll try spaninglish.
this night, at 21:30 utc, there are two servers in hl, escuadron 69 and Atag_DediServer.
In "Games in progress:" i can see
Escuadron_69 2/16, this is correct. One player fliying
Atag_DediServer 1/99, this is not correct. There are more of 20 players fliying. I think this is a bug, may be.
Very very thanks for this new hl version. |

The numbers of players differ because people are joining from the game's client and not from hyperlobby. They do not show on the hyperlobby player lists. |

HyperLobby only shows players that joined using HyperLobby.
People that joined using the ingame browser do not show up in the HyperLobby listing.
This has been the way HyperLobby has been run since the beginning.
There have been threads in the past from people complaining that they joined a server in HyperLobby where there were plenty of openings only to get the "server full" message.
In the old days this was a problem since you could join via direct connect,
All Seeing Eye,Gamespy Arcade,Xfire and HyperLobby.
Now I think only HyperLobby and direct connect remain for the IL2 series.
I think this is a quirk in the programming and can not be corrected without a major rewrite.Otherwise Jiri would have done so eons ago. |

I have not done this so take it with a grain of salt.
Also you might find better info on the 1C forum.
I assume that by "dedicated machine" you mean to have the server on one machine and play from another.
Since I can run a server and play from the same machine I will assume all you need is to have Steam and Clod on the two machines.
Steam on one machine and d/l Clod. Then install Steam on the other machine using the same account.Steam will send you an email with a code to verify it is your machine with a different configuration than the original.Once verified you can d/l Clod onto that machine.Clod is tied to you account.
There might be a problem with logging on from two different machines with the same account. You can have Steam on two different machines and also Clod. |

How to run Dedicated server and game client on the same computer behind router:
- Create new shortcut for HL, rename it to "HL Dedicated", Click shortcut properties and add there parameter -i dedicated, It will look like this:
Code: | "C:\Program Files (x86)\HyperLobby client\hyperlobby.exe" -i dedicated |
This will create hl instance named dedicated
- Run HL Dedicated shortcut, create dedicated server account, setup dedicated server (use another port than default, for example 27020 and also dont forget to forward this port at your router back to your computer ip), start
the server ...
- Edit the HL dedicated server shortcut again and add there -a parameter si it will look like this:
Code: | "C:\Program Files (x86)\HyperLobby client\hyperlobby.exe" -i dedicated -a |
Clicking this shortcut HL will start, register the server to the HL and run the server.
- Log in to HL using your origional HL shortcut (without parameters). You will see your server there but its not all if your computer do not using public ip and is hiddden behind NAT router. In this case you need setup loopback by those two steps (can be done also via HL configuration editor):
- enable loopback by chat command:
- setup loopback IP (your computer ip, for example used 10.1.1.10) by chat command:
Code: | /sg loopbackip=10.1.1.10 |
- Enjoy
How to run Dedicated server and game client on different computers with the same steam account:
(note: i continuously got steam disconnect messages from the dedicated server in both steam online and offline modes. The server was functional from few hours to few days and i consistered is definitely as game issue, so do not discuss it here)
- At your main computer logof and exit steam
- At server computer instal steam, log your account and install/patch IL2CLOD
- Run il2 clod first time so it will initialize its own profile. It may crash if you run it via remote desktop, but do not care, the profile wil be created ...
- Switch steam in to offline mode (mandatory)
- Setup hl dedicated server by steps 1,2,3 from previous guide.
- Login steam at your main computer, connect HL, setup loopback if you and your server is behind the same NAT router (IP must match internal ip of server computer)
- Enjoy
